So I'm reading this book called "Beyond Civilization" it's written by Daniel Quinn who is the author of the book i mentionedin the title that i think will change the world....if everyone read it....and I think everyone needs to read it. It is the first part of a trilogy that also includes books "The Sotry of B" and "My Ishamel" (which both also must be read). However, in light of the issues he touched on in his triology he left many readers saying "I...

I sure wish I could read your entire blog. It just will not load! So forgive me if I say anything off. I can not view your entire article.

I've also read "Beyond Civilization" as well as all three of the Ishmael books, though I believe Quinn should have stopped with the Story of B.... "My Ishmael" seemed to be the same story as Ishmael, really, and since Quinn ended "B" by passing the torch to the reader, it seemed a perfect end to the series.

Still, the original "Ishmael" is indeed a life-changing book. I highly recommend it to anyone who might see this post!!!

So how did you like Beyond Civilization then? I have to admit, I was disappointed as it seemed like a mere collection of abstract ideas rather than real-world solutions.

Anyway, if you love Quinn, I would recommend that you also check out Derrick Jensen. I just finished a "A Language Older Than Words" about a year ago. Fantastic book. Jensen very personally and effectively sums up the self-defeat of religon and civilization in general. "ENDGAME: The Problem of Civilzation" (Jenson) is also an amazing book! Though Derrick tends to advocate a certain level of resistance that I can not support for moral reasons, his ideas are still incredibly strong and certainly worth reading. Great stuff!
