At Michael Sheridan’s school, candy sales are not allowed (oh the horrors!). When Michael was caught buying a bag of Skittles from another student he was suspended for a day, barred from attending an honors student dinner, and stripped of his title as class vice president. Seems a bit harsh doesn’t it? It’s a good [...]

This is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard of in my entire life. I can see giving dtention for breaking a rule, beause all rules have a reason, no matter how rediculous we might think they are, but that fact that he was suspended, stripped of his title of class vice president and banned from attending the honors student dinner is just entirely too much.

I realize schools have a reponsibility towards keeping their students healthy, but the rediculousness of this decision might just encourage more students to break the rule because the administration is so strict, ad I bet they wouldn't even get in trouble with their parents who think the rule is rediculous too. Banning sweets does not stop kids from wanting them, in fact it may make them more attractive because sweets become the forbidden fruit, always a turn on for teenagers. All the administration did was elevate the profile of sweets in the school.

That is just weird. I mean it would be better to stop student from smoking or something else that much more dangerous than Skittles. Ok, I know that Skittles will damage your health if you eat it in great amount. But it would be better if you advice them or suggest them not to eat more candy rather than banned them from buying it..

well...i have been feeling off and it seems that the bulk of what i have been posting too have been the same. ITS A BAG OF SKITTLES. were they laced with crack or something? suspending, stripping of a title, and being held from going to something for selling a bag of skittles is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard of. those rules need to be changed. thats weak. if the kid that this happened to ever reads this...im so very sorry this happened and i hope you sue...and win.

I think that he should have not been surspended for buying the pack of skittles from another student. But it must be a police of the school for students not to sale thing to other students. That is strange, this is the first time that I have heard of a school doing something like this before.
