Paranoia in America: Profiling  |

 Two township police officers and 3 security guards for an apartment complex knocked on the door of two Arab/Muslim men. They asked to come in. There was only one of the men present there in the livingroom and they asked if there was anyone else there and the man said no. They searched the apartment without a warrant. They looked at the man's computer screen, asked him if he had a green card, and if he was a citizen. They opened the bedroom door only to find another man there sleeping. The one police officer called the man who met him at the door to the apartment, a liar. The man said that he did not know his roommate was in there. He said that he just got home and took a shower. The police officer said he was not on the lease as a tenant which was not true. The police officer asked if they smelled anything burning. They said no. Let me say this. There was a smell in the apartment complex on the first floor a day before. These men lived on the second floor. Since when are police called to investigate a smell in an apartment complex...and then...a day later, at that? It took 5 men to investigate a smell? Was this little visit about a smell? Or was it something else?

2.  CinderInMySoul (3548) | 1 year ago |  huh, sounds a bit dodgey to me. of course even without a warrant if the person living there lets them in the house thats his own fault. but not allowing them in will obviously lead to them being more pushy and suspicious unfortunatly.
burning smell from the day before? perhaps someone in the complex smelled something burning again that day?
i dont know, but the whole thing sounds a bit off to me. no article link?

When the police come to your home and the security guards..5 of them, you do not have a choice but to let them in. They do not turn around and say OK, no problem. Have a nice day, old man. There is no article. It was not in the newspaper. They do not have the freedom to report that to the newspaper. They are trying to stay in the country..not be kicked out.

They had 3 security guards with them from the building and in the lease it says they have a right to enter if they feel they need to. The complaint about a smell was reported the day before. It was the day after that the police came. There was no smell that day. The smell that was there the day before was only on the first floor...not the second floor where they lived. When someone complains of a smell in the complex, it is security who is supposed to check it out, not the police. Now, if they lived in a house and neighbors smelled something, that would be different. The year before the one next door neighbor called security indicating she could hear a ticking sound in her apartment coming from the Arab men's apartment. Why didn't they enter her apartment? The two men were not at home and they insisted entering their apartment anyway and they did. There was no ticking sound in their apartment.

4.  Anniedup (1700) | 1 year ago |  Nah there is smelling something fishy here. There is just no way that they can investigate a smell! Surely there is a department like health or something, but the police! no there is definitely something "smelling" wrong here.
