Carnivals, fairs, festivals, town celebrations, do you celebrate?

We have an Old Settlers event every year. Now being that last year was my first year for it I only had to run the kids games for a couple of hours and the rest of the time got to enjoy the activities. This year I am on the committee so we will see if I enjoy it as much*L* I am really looking forward to it though. I love the bed races idea that you do. I may have to suggest that. I am thinking that would be good for a few laughs!

I live on an island so the only time of year that we open a carnival is for the 4th of july, but I hate it! It is hard to enjoy it when it is pretty small and there are thousands of people lining up for the kiddie rides. I too dread such festivities an can't wait till it is over with!

Hi monkey. Why not dropped your uniform and join as a monkey juggler or better yet a rocking monkey at the carnival. I might join you there too, LOL!

I'm living in an urban city and carnivals and any event of such nature are not popular here in my area. Town celebrations are usually held in the nearby provinces. Carnivals and fairs are rampant during holidays in some area of the city.

I can't blame you for dreading the arrival of the carnival. The nature of your work is not something I envy either. You have a lot of responsibility and need to deal with everyday pressures. I'll make sure to wrap some carrots for you, LOL!

i don't think we have many things. i mean there is always something going on at all the churches (there's a festival at my g-pa's church this weekend), and the schools hold events like that. and downtown there are people's fair's and oktoberfest's and always stuff for each holiday going on. then in other cities there are little events. there's a city WAY north that i had never even heard of until my friend visited there, and they shut the town down for their annual event. but where i'm from, nothing special goes on. we're a big town/city though. when i went away to college, that town had a few annual events, and they were fun, something to do in a kinda boring town! we partake in some other events in an outside city, but to do anything fun, you have to travel around the state, to different cities for different events. that's a hassle. but if i were working where you were, i wouldn't be too excited either!

That sounds like a fun festival. I hope you can enjoy some of it even though you have to work it. We are looking forward to a small festival next weekend that will allow us to ride a few rides, eat cotton candy and look at some vendor booths that we might not otherwise get to do. It is a nice little festival that has been going on for years and I think they will have fireworks at it too. It should be fun with the kids going!!

When I lived back in Nebraska our town would celebrat the organ trail days. There would be a parade and the old timers that first settled the area would be honored. i don't think there are many left to honor now. There would be carnivals and arts and craft booths, trackter pulls, pretty much the sames is going on there in your small town. When we lived in Kansas every small town around had their celebrations. There would be people in period dress, and some towns would have a jail set up so you could have some one arrested and they would have to pay a fine to get out. One year a lady was giving away sour dough starter that had been started over 100 years ago. There was always the arts and craft booths too. I remember one old gentelman that would attend these afairs dressed as a mountian man. He would play the way that the kids back then. There was always a make believe gun fight too. They were educational for the kids as well as fun. I miss going to these celebrations.

u just name it. i can't live without them. i love to gatehr all my friends and chill eith them. v together and chillout with them. i think life without chillin is incomplete. though v don;t have too much festivals here in pakistan but still the ones v have v celeberate in their real sense.

Sounds like fun...I know it makes it harder on you working at the police department but these little festivals keeps the town close.My small town has a carnival going on right now.I took the kids the other night and we had so much fun on the ferris wheel..All teh laughter and people taht you just never see until the town has a festival...We also have a Fall festivala few days before Halloween...All the food,crafts,music...Did I menton all the food..lol...Anyway we also have a few concerts and other small gatherings.all the towns people and kids love it!I also enjoy it...I hope you are safe and get some rest in this time of extra work...You will be missed by me and your other fellow ice cream party animal...Hugs..!!!
