This is a question for our American wine lovers. |
This year a british wine has won thr prestiges ' European wine of excellence 2007'. That wine is a refreshing bottle of red called 'Buckfast' This is made by monks in an abbey! (google it) My question is, is there any americans or Canadians who have been fortunate enough to sample this fine vintage? What did you think of it?

1. Idlewild (4483) | 1 year ago | Haven't had it, or even heard of it, but I'll keep an eye out for it. If it's oneof the best in Europe, that's saying something. But if it's that good, does that mean it's pricey? I tend toward moderately priced (um, cheap) wines.

alfieklondyke (1048) | 1 year ago | i think you may be pleasently surprised. You do need an 'asbo' to drink it correctly.
| |
indium (1573) | 1 year ago | really i thought only those over 45 and in favor of open plan, open air housing were the true conenesiers of it. surely it goes without sayibg that they're 30 too old for an asbo.
| |
alfieklondyke (1048) | 1 year ago | never to old for an asbo! I have tried but my music does not go above 3 so no asbo for me!

indium (1573) | 1 year ago | maybe you're hanging out on the wrong street corners. perhaps you should take your wife for some public satisfactions and kill two posts with one stone. mind i guess in rothesay that would just be taken for the normal local wildlife.
| |
alfieklondyke (1048) | 1 year ago | I think you know too much about rothesay! are you that geeky bus driver with the school run? What part of the country do you come from?
| |
indium (1573) | 1 year ago | lol actually i've never been but i expect its pretty much like any 'the big town' on a Scottish island. bit like brodick without the castle. or tobermory without the mishnish. i'm as close to being on one of the islands as you can be but still on the mainland. think calmac hubs:-)
| |
alfieklondyke (1048) | 1 year ago | Nay, you have me there, calmac is a massive multi conglomarate company. Unless you live in bute where they have leeched the blood from the island as they have no competition to travel to rothesay. Hense it is approx. $600 to go to rothesay!!
| |
indium (1573) | 1 year ago | they have no completion on almost all of their routes, i guess there's just no subsidy for travel to bute. or maybe it';s a subtle secret mission to make no one live there. so the government can use it to test secret psychotropic agents. if the did it with the natives there they wouldn;t notice the effects right. i'm in Oban

5. Woodpigeon (2594) | 1 year ago | I am going there next week and promise to scour the shelves of Safeway to see if I can dredge up any of the tonic and will be sure to report back to you. Did you know that all the best beer is bottled by monks? I cut my teeth on Chimay, which the monks believe making and drinking makes them better able to be heard by god. Or they send better messages. Or the contents of their stomach are a prettier shade of kaleidescope when they are reexamined. I'm a little fuzzy on the actual why, I just remember the do. Perhaps you should give some of this to the Bopptists you know and you will be less worried, once their evening prayers are said, about your audience. No one wants stagefright.
