I think it's wonderful that you shared that story w/ us-it helps to be remimded to commint a random act of kindness each day.
I had one yesterday,I had stopped at the convienence store & parked right in front (the store was packed) & a lady was checking out ahead of me to pay for gas & some snacks for her children who were running wild in the line anyway she checked out & then I did as I was walking back to get in my car she was coming back from the gas pumps into the store at first I thought I should wait to open my door b/c she was a rather large woman but she looked mean so I thought I'm not gonna let this lady bully over me so I went on and opened my car door and just then she squeezed in between my car door and the car parked beside me only to hold my door for me so I could get my bag in what a dummy I felt like she was a very kind lady,I thanked her in my surprize & she even complimented me.

I seen a young boy open the door for his grandma today, mylady and felt the same smile I think we are on the same page just a few hundred miles seperating us.lol I was so please to see this young man open the door my heart nearly stopped. Keep smiling mylady it suits you.lol tredale.

I am glad you have seen proof that gentlemen still exist my friend - I already know they do! I know a few gentlemen and it always lightens my heart when I observe the way they treat people and conduct themselves - it is good to see! xxx

I am not sure how things work in your country bu t over here a lot of woman especially younger ones actually get iratated when someone offers to help them. they take it as an insult or like someone is saying they are incapable of doing for themselves. This has created a problem in the US. A lot of men no longer do the curteous things they used to. But there are still a few of us left that open doors and offer help especially to the elderly. We look for the good and we find good, we look for the bad and bad we will find.

I do believe that there are lot of gentlemen around, Mherledy. In fact I believe that majority of the people are gentlemen/women. I speak out of my every day's life experiences here:-)

I see people opening and holding a door open for next person coming in or going out especially if the person is handicap or old. I see people passing gentle gestures on each other all the time. I too don't own a car so travel on common transport and gentleman's behavior is a common sight there too. People will allow others to board and leave the bus first. For handicap people there are special arrangements in each bus and tram and people will help them coming on board and no body will try to get on before them. People also leave heir seats for elderly people, pregnant women and even for someone who is looking very fatigued even if he/she is young.

By default a person is supposed to take care of him/herself, so you will often see old people even upto 70-80 years of age carrying their goods which are sometimes heavy. But you will also see people offering them help. Most of the time these old people politely deny any help with smile and a thanks but sometimes they accept. So, my experience tells me that majority of people are gentleman/woman:-) and I feel very happy about it!

LOL, you don't hardly see that much. I seen a few still open doors or pull up chairs but very rare. Thanks for sharing.

You made some excellent points and sometimes we forget there is a lot of good and a lot of kindness and courtesy in this world In my last visit to the hospital for chemo I sat in Chair 8 my wife was in Chair 5 the person in chair 7 stood up and asked my wife to change seats so she could be next to me ....NICE then on the subway last week on the way to Princess Margaret My wife landed a seat and the gentleman on the seat next to her and in his early twenties and waved me in to sit next to wife NICE again I am sure there are thousands of stories like this so we should never presume everything is evil or in bad taste Good Luck

Filipinos were known before for their courtesy. With all the corruption and scandals, people just forgot. It's great now that people have begun rebuilding that reputation.

There are still a lot of gentlemen out there . They don't come very often though. But if you saw one try to make him appreciate what he is doing. Most of the time we tend to be not appreciative in what good others have done.
