Has she taken the animals to the vet? Raccoons cary a dangerous disease called distemper, and from what you have described..the female may have it. It spreads rapidly to other animals and even humans.

My sister in law just tried to save a raccoon from her yard a few weeks ago. She was surprised because he was over friendly, just like he was someone's pet before she found him. She kept him in her bathroom, but he was sick. His nose wouldn't stop running, and something was wrong with his eye. He was also bleeding. She finally took him to the vet and they put him to sleep. Lucky for her, she kept him out of the general area of living in her home..away from the dog and the baby. She had to bleach or discard everything he touched.
It may not be the same thing, but I would definitely tell your friend to get her to the vet. Not a lot of vets will care for raccoons, but there are some. Good luck!

Simple I would take the animal to the vet. If I didn't have allot of money I would ask the local humane society or other animal rescue agencies to help with the funding. Or perhaps the vet would be nice enough to set up a payment plan. BUT to let the animal suffer is not right. It is cruel and inhumane. If the neighbor doesn't do any thing about it in the next 24 hours, I would turn them in for animal neglect.

call the vets in your area and find a wildlife rescuer and get that baby to that person asap.

I couldn't stand it for an animal to scream and cry. It must be in a lot of pain. I hope since this discussion is several days old, your neighbor has taken some kind of action, even if it was to put the poor raccoon out of it's misery.
