Y&R, "Out of the Ashes"????

Well first off - remember when Snapper Foster was on Y&R? David Hassellhoff? Oh those were the days! Anyway, I ahve started watchign it again as the ABC soaps that i have been with for 40 years are boring now, but you have to know that all of them are going to survive. They aren't going to can any of those main characters. So there's no surprise to be had. Victoria of course will have the baby but it will live - they need a new Newman - there is already a shortage of Abbots and you can't have Y&R without Newmans and Abbots. This story line was acted over 2 weeks ago as that is about the time span they wrk on day time tv - the filmed todays episode 2 weeks ago kind of schedule so there shouldn't be any comparison between the episode and the CA wild fires (I am right in the middle of them, by the way). ANd I think most SO's now a days create their story lines from current affairs. AMC is always hosting a story line about a social problem and then at the end of the epidode one of the main characters will be there and do a pitch about how you can help or if you have this problem and need help here's a help line to call or something like that. I think that is a nice way to use the story line to help people. I'd rather learn something like that then to hear it on the news from some anchor man that has no meaning to me. At least I like the character the actor portrays on the SO!

Well, first off I am sure that this was filmed before the fires in California began. Second of all, I don't believe that anyone has forgotten what happened at the World Trade Center,but we can't go through the rest of our lives never hearing or seeing about stuff like this as it does happen. Thirdly, I don't think that the bridge collapse in Minn. ever came to anyone's mind while this was being written.
As far as the promotion phrase, we don't yet know that there isnt' going to be a fire or explosion s there was a problem with methane gas in the structure before.

My grandmother is just like you, she loves Y&R. Personally, I could never really get into it. I love space drama and sci-fi drama more than so-called "real" drama. Anyway, I am sure that they will think of a name for the shows.

I just watched todays episode- and something just was so blantantly obvious - I think that the writers did a huge dis-service to rescue workes or the first department and police. They couldn't get in there with all the resources they had, but the people in there seemed to find their way out rather fine. Plus, when the methane gas blew and the resuce workes said to evacuate - of course no one did, but they didn't use the police to enforce the law- they just stood there, the civilians got to stay cause they wanted to - okay, again, that's TV. But the biggest thing that aggrivated me was when after the explosion, the fire/rescue people said they couldn't go in anymore, to dangerous etc - and Victor grabs an oxgyn tank that just happened to be laying the in the rubble and ran on in and immediately found Jack Abbott. Why weren't the rescue/fire people able to do that! And of course it was Victor that organized the camera crew to get a search camera down there - the fire dept didn't have one of those? and then of course, after Victor brings Jack out (that the fire people couldn't do) JT runs in and there stands Victoria and what's his name. The rescue people couldn't do that? And they walk out and was any safety precautions taken by the resuce team? No, they just stood there like calves looking at a new fence and it was Victor that shouted something when he saw the open area falling so that it hit Victoria. I know its TV. I know its not real and I know it revolves around the charaxters and all that, but come on - don't portray our fire/police departments as such stupid idiots. They are major assets to this country and we need them very much and for the writers to protray them as such stupid idiots, just makes me want to turn the channel.
