"If America is foolish enough to invade Iran, the price of oil is expected to jump to $200" said Mr.Chavez. "The basis of all aggression in the region is oil" while referring to the US-Led War in Iraq.Referring against the American Threats to Iran he said"Today OPEC stands strong. It is stronger than it has ever been in the past and OPEC should itself up as an active geopolitical agent". The 12 member OPEC produces about 40per cent of world Oil and pointing out that oil was fundamental to the progress of the International Community, and should be used as an instument of energy for construction and not as a tool to instigate Conflict. There is a tendency for belligerence to take a continental outlook, like China and America or Russia and America or Russia and Europe etc. I have been asking myself, what is Chavez, a leader of Venezuaella, a country that lies in the same Hemisphere and continent with America, upto by being so diabolically opposed to America? Is the Oil wealth he is presiding over giving him a false sense of super power? Does he want to team up with America's enemies to deal a death blow to the American civilization? Just look at Chavez-he knows American foreign policies and interests in Cuba, Iran, but he quickly takes the other side of the table on these matters, not just once, but always. Why does he play with a dangerous country like America? The oil Question now being used as a weapon to subdue America will not work, and I am not being a doomsday sayer, but the next world war will probably be sparked off by men like Hugo Chavez who appear to be daring America too far. I hope he doesnt get the Saddam kind of treatment very soon.

wisedragon (2185) | 11 months ago | I agree that the next world war could be because of oil. The only way to reduce the power of oil-producing countries is to wean away from the use of fossil fuels and shift to new technology such as hybrid vehicles or hydrogen-powered vehicles. That's something that we, ordinary citizens, can do.
