My daughter had her feelings hurt yesterday

I am so sorry that she is going thorugh all this! I feel so bad for her. Have you thought about home schooling her?

I know how hard this can be for people who want to socialy interact and feel welcomed. I believe in the eye for an eye (or a combinantion of equal value) theory. It's hard to train kids to stand up for themselves as they have to learn this skill on their own.
The best you can do is teach her to be proud of herself and not let belittlers hold her down. Don't teach comebacks as they'll result in more picking on. Tell you daughter to refrain from any interaction with unkind people. Any responce to an unkind person should be done without emotion and no favor should be given to them, lest their need is life threatening.

I think this is uncalled for in today's society. Have you talked to the teacher(s) and principle about this? There is no reason why these other girls should be singling your daughter out for this kind of treatment. I hope you will get up to that school and start some action. I'm sorry your daughter is being treated like this. I would try to do something to get her out of this mess though. Continued harassment at school is not good and not good for her self esteem. Keep us posted!

I am sorry your daughter is going through this. My kids school didn't have gift exchanges and this might be why, some get really great gifts while others get junk..

If my daughter's school did, she would probably be in your daughters shoes, she wasn't very popular and in soccer got picked on terribly..


The only thing that got her through the last 2 years of school, was she went to a vocational school and made many new and different friends..


All I can say is give your daughter a hug, she needs to know that you are there for her and love her...

The poor thing. I remember what it was like to be picked on my the mean girls and I hate that anyone has to go through that.
Be sure to remind her that those girls will reap what they have sown!
Do encourage your daughter to go to the principal. With todays zero tolerance, I have heard of the child being picked on getting into trouble if it comes to a fight. By going to the principle she will have documented that it is happening so there will be some record if things get worse.

That is not fair that she is picked on. I wish no child had to go through that.
Why would they want to embarrass her like that? Have you tried moving her to a different school to have a new start, or would she like that? does she have any friends that stand up for her? I hope she does. Bullying seems to be a lot worse in the states then it is in canada. I feel sorry for all the kids that are bullied. and i feel bad for the bullies, cause i bet they learn that behavior at home, i bed tHOSE kids are the kids taht are abused, yelled at, beaten, and mistreated. But that doesn't give them the right to do it to other kids.

I went through something like this in while i was in school...Kids are so cruel these days. The getting picked on constantly made my grades drop and i just hated school...I told my mom to homeschool me and i bet my grades would be alot better. But she never did cuz of the cost. But then things just go worse and i started acting out. I hung out with the trouble makers in school and became a follower. I got kicked out of school for taking perscription drugs. I got kicked out for a year. I had returned and got kicked out withing that year and was expelled till i was 21. Then my mom finally put me though homeschooling that they mailed you textbooks and did my schooling through the mail. it was easy since it was always and open book exams for me. But not that i look back i wish my high school years were different. The 2 years of schooling i did through the mail I learned nouthing cuz i didnt have anyone their to teach me it. I had a book thats it. Maybe you can transfer her to a different school so she can start out fresh.

The teacher needs to put a stop to this.

I remember when I was in school I was picked on and teased a lot as well, and it wasn't fun.

Kids today can be worse than when I was growing up, and you're right it is the thought that counts, however, to know that they planned this from the moment that her name was drawn is down right cruel.

I think the teacher needs to step in and take some action as well as the principal. Sending a girl out of class for slapping your daughter is not an appropriate measure of discipline.

Sorry thats just me, but it makes me glad that I homeshool.

These mean girls should be ashamed of themselves. Unfortunately they may grow up and never change their behavior. I think you told her the right thing, just to walk away and be the bigger person. If she continues to be kindhearted, then she will be the one who draws the better friends to her.

It also sounds though like the school is not doing its job. If these girls are getting physical they need to be suspended and punished. There is not any excuse for that.
