what is the difference between frozen yogurt

I was watching Little Miss Sunshine the other day and at some point she asks a model "Do you eat ice cream?" and the reply is "Yes. My favorite is Chocolate Cherry Garcia ... except technically I think is frozen yogurt."
What is the difference? They are made of milk and are frozen, right?
Can someone explains plz.

i am pretty sure cherry garcia is ice cream, not yogurt...visit www.benandjerrys.com for more info on that one...

i do not really know what the difference is...except i know yogurt is made from bacteria? and then i would suppose frozen yogurt would just be freezing it maybe?

only speculation...i just wanted to comment on how much i liked the movie little miss sunshine...it was so cute and funny!!

Thanks for the advice, I visited the site and it classifies Cherry Garcia as a Low Fat Frozen Yogurt. It probably has something to do with the process. The movie is really very enjoyable and funny.

To be called ice cream, a frozen dessert must contain a minimum of 10% milk fat: economy brands might have 11 or 12%mf, and super premium ice cream might have up to 16%mf. Less han 10%mf makes it ice milk or light ice cream. Sherbet is a 2% milk fat product, with a lighter texture and refreshing fruit flavours. And gelato is similar to sherbet, but without any fat. Frozen yogurt has a similar texture to ice cream, but has lower fat and an active bacterial culture.

Very informative, thanks, they are similar in texture so it's difficult to tell the difference. The fat content gives more consistency, so the frozen yogurt is a replacement for people that are concerned with calories and fat in their meals. Very good, thanks again.
