That makes sense. The Media always be putting in lies. The media doesn't need to put lies in to get people to be interested in their show.

I never really thought about him never wearing pants, and I'm surprised that teh media could come up with something like that as false as it is.

I can understand why Helsinki youth affairs board cut back on buying some comics, and how sports and hobby, and maybe even local comic might take precedence over Donald Duck.

Its also how it is amazing that the leak came at a political time when someone thought he could use it to his advantage.

I found this to be ridiculous and funny at the same time. For God sake, it is just a cartoon character and that is all about it. How many times do you see young kids wearing only underpants or no pants at all wondering the streets just because they are hard fans of Donald? I like Donald Duck. LOL!

Thanks for pointing out how urban legends can take on a life of their own, whether in Finland or anywhere else. I would think that someone would complain due to Donald Duck wearing a shirt, rather than not wearing pants, but I understand that the issue was not with Donald Duck's apparel at all. I receive forwarded e-mails all the time that consist of one urban myth or another.You never know what to believe. I had heard this one before, but without an explanation. I know that the people of Finland are more intelligent than that, so I did not believe it. Good post.

I already knew about this story, and i knew it was not just an urban legend. Anyway, i don't find it that shocking, considering the huge censorship that many western countries have even nowadays. It's been funny to read about this again thoguh, princesslexie, so thank you for it.

I've never heard about the Donald Duck problem but I wouldn't have believed about it. Finland is famous to be a developed and liberal country.

It's really something how something so simple can take on a life of it's own. Really makes you wonder about the press all over the world. Makes you wonder just how truthful any thing is.

That is interesting to know. Had the panel of judges been ducks themselves, I'm sure they would have banned Donald Duck if he HAD worn pants. Politics as usual. Glad that got cleared up, though. Now the world seems like a saner place.

I would never hold anything that anyone in Finland did against them, for they are the inventors and lovers of the Finnish sauna. I read somewhere that they build their saunas before they even build their houses! I admire them tremendously, I don't care what their opinion of Donald Duck is, especially since mine isn't too high either.
