What Do You Wear to Work? |
|
As mentioned earlier, I will start work on the 18th. The dress code is a bit serious in this company. I should wear formally (skirts or suits) from Mondays to Thursdays, then on Fridays, we could wear causally (like jeans). What about you? What's the dress code in your company?

| 1. azariah33 (62) | 8 months ago | The places I have worked have a dress code, it is called what not to wear.........And even then, people still manage to get away with it, which I find unprofessional. Aside from dressing up with skirts and dress pants, blouses and jackets, for job interviews and my attempts at becoming a financial adviser, I wear my casual clothes.Jeans and a shirt.Sometimes a blouse or a jacket.Sometimes, when I feel like it, I do dress up, but the line of work I am used to, requires much thought at what to wear.Early Childhood Educator and Home Support worker. If you do your job in these area correctly you have to consider many things. You have to wear something, that you do not mind ruining (paint, bleach, oils, creams etc). You have to wear clothes, that are flexible and cozy. You have to wear clothes that make sure, certain body parts, are not exposed, but that keep you warm when it is cold, and cool when it is hot.You have to wear something that is professional, but at th same time, good enough to play in, crouch in, kneel in, etc.it is tough to figure out sometimes.Sometimes I would wear a blouse but then get it ruined the first day.I could not get mad though, as I knew what to expect.Overall though, I normally wear stretch jeans and a nice casual shirt and/or sometimes a sweater. I also have to bring a long a t shirt for just in case it is too hot a day.Actually I have to bring at least one pair of extra clothes, as anything could happen without any notice...Use you imagination (children and seniors). Sounds like you know what to wear.It is always better to dress up then down.Good luck at your new job, I am sure you will do just fine......Just do not wear a I hate my job t shirt on Fridays, that may be too much...lol

3. SukiSmiles (1040) | 8 months ago | I work for myself now so I don't have to worry about it. But I did work in an office environement where we wore suits, either skirts or pants or nice dress. We also had Fri as a causal day, but jean were pushing it. It was more of a docker day or nice kaki (I wish I knew how to spell that) pants day.

4. bfarrier1 (910) | 8 months ago | Good Luck with your new job. I work in a nursing home so I do have a dress code it is scrub outfits, each department use to have their own color to wear but now we can wear whatever color we choose which is better because the same color all the time does get boring. Have a great day!

5. brew2x (802) | 8 months ago | The dress code in our company is not as serious as yours. We should wear smart casual attires from Mondays to Fridays and we can wear jeans from Fridays to Saturdays. We are not allowed to wear slip-on shoes unless it has at least 2 inches heels.

| azariah33 (62) | 8 months ago | Just thought of this.I actually do have a dress code.It is one established by society and the fashion industry. It is called, I wear whatever they can offer me in plus sizes.I do not however not wear black and white striped anything, over sized clothes, sleeveless tops, boobie blouses, to make up for the rest, puppy sweatshirts, log shirts, jeans with big pockets and fabric scarf belts, like I need more bulge. So aside from that, there really is not much I can wear to look professional and feel stylish.Unless I make my own clothes. All in all though.People tell me all the time that I have a good sense of style, and despite that I am large(under statement), that I dress very nice and appropriately for my age and size. What they do not know is that any of the clothes they see me wearing that look great were all picked out by my husband..........He is my fashion co coordinator and has great taste......So, if I was in an office and maybe did not have the proper attire,I would have no choice but to ask for a salary raise to buy what they want.I think that if the company you work for expects you to dress very business that they should provide you with extra money to do so.I do not think it makes sense to wear business attire at a place where they expect you to look professional but only pay you a little over minimum wage.Half your check will go to clothes and is that why you are working. That is a great idea.A clothing fund.Every 6 months-12 months you should get a clothing bonus. That is a company I know I would work for cause they understand this and if the employee is happy, the company is successful.Usually anyway......but then again, who am i. A big woman in an even larger world of opinion/s that go on for galaxies...............

7. polofield32 (285) | 8 months ago | I think I am lucky to be in a company where there is not dress code. I wear jeans and shirt to work. It has to be something really comfortable because I work for 8 hours straight.

9. gr8life (2690) | 7 months ago | Hello wondericequeen, We don't have an official dress code to follow (at least in my company where I am working now) but of course we won't wear our pyjamas to office*laughs* Normally, I prefer to wear something traditional or blouse and long pants. I do wear skirts but a long one only.

10. Trace86 (2633) | 7 months ago | I am a nurse in a nursing home and have to wear a uniform. They don't care what color, as long as it is decent. We get in trouble if we wear white or light pants and you can see your underwear through it. I recently got a promotion to the office but haven't stopped wearing uniforms yet as I am not quite sure of the dress code for the office and I am still getting pulled to the floor occasionally. Congrats on your new job! I hope it's fantastic.
