 I was playing the brain game on MSN with my good friend last night, and although it was late at night, i know for sure that this question was real. . We both remember it. . What insect can live 9 days without its head.. and .. its a cockroach.. geez. are those things darn near indestructable?
So the body lives.. but what does it to? just scuddle around bumping into things endlessly for 9 freaking days? WEIRD.

Oh that is so sick, and I hae to say right now roaches are not fun insects to try to get rid of no matter what you do, as they tend to lay eggs rapidly
I wold have never known that a cockroach can live 9 days without its head,
but I have read that they can be good for crops, can't remember why but I heard it on the radio that some cockroaches can be friends of a farmer.

I know gecko's eat them.. my aunt works in the biology department in a university and to try to combat the cockroach problem they brought in those lizards to eat some of them lol. | |

I was just looking through my books trying to find this story i read, about a chicken, i think in the 1940's that survived several years without a head.
It had been cut off somehow leaving enough of a brain stump to allow it to live. the bird was fed with an eye dropper if I rememer correctly.
It was something of a tourist attraction, I imagine along to the lines of a large ball of string, or a bearded lady.
