 bradhart (551) | 7 months ago |  there are plenty of things wrong with FF 3, it doesn't recognize many of the popular extensions, especially those used for power blogging. I would also suggest if FF 2.x is freezing on some sites, it is a problem with the sites rather than FF.

 santuccie (1801) | 7 months ago |  Bradhart is not wrong. It tends to be at specific sites that Firefox hangs on a pageload, myLot being one. Nevertheless, I should mention that it does take Firefox a lot longer to pull through a delayed pageload than IE or Opera. With FF, you may have to click refresh 3 or 4 times, or wait a full minute for the page to load.
The other browsers don't seem to have this problem, although FF is still faster than IE unimpeded. With Opera, it's a different story. Opera is probably the fastest of all browsers, as well as the most inherently secure. But of course Opera doesn't support much of anything, not even ActiveX controls.
To egdcltd, there could be any number of reasons why Firefox is crashing on your system. Have you updated it to the latest stable release? If you're already running the latest version, you might want to scan your system for infection. A lot of people still think Firefox is virtually impregnable, but the truth is quite the reverse. IE has been the biggest target for a long time, but Firefox's growing popularity is starting to bring into the light a plethora of vulnerabilities of its own.

I think it is more likely a problem with the sites than my computer (no viruses detected in the last few checks, although I'm considering switching from Norton to Kaspersky) as it's always in the same places that the browser crashes. MyYahoo is the worst. | |
