The NAACP says it is, and while there would be no criminal sanctions it does say that students will not be allowed to wear their clothes so that their undergarnment shows.

The first offense would get a student a warning, and upon each subsequent violation the student would get a suspension.

I think schools should set dress codes like this, and what students do off campus should be fine but when in school I believe that school officials have a right to set the dress code.

The bill was approved in the FL. Senate 28 to 11.....

Do you think the NAACP has a chance to beat this?
Should schools be able to set a dress code like this?

Mooch

How is that discriminating against blacks? I know white kids that do it too. EVERYONE is expected to follow a dress code, not just blacks.

To tell you the truth no. I'm hispanic and I live in a block where there are a lot of black and hispanic people and all of them wear their pants like that. I've gone to manhattan and i've seen white kids wearing their pants like that. It's like the fashion now and all guys are doing it, even though i see it as wrong it's not really discriminatory against anyone.

I think they are going too far. I know plenty of white guys that need to pull up their pants too. This isn't a race thing. It's just about students needing to show some self respect while they are in school. I mean as long as I can remember they've had rules about girls not being able to wear short shorts. I don't see any difference in guys needing to pull up their pants and not show off their underwear.

I think its a good rule. You can wear baggy pants they just have to sit on your waist what a concept. I mean really this is not discriminating I know many races that wear there pants to low and well id tell em all the get a belt.

The Naacp is off based. There are white kids who wear baggy pants also. This is just a fad. I think the school system has a right to have specific dress codes, but what kids wear otherwise should not be criminalize. The NAACP should be more concern with other issues affecting the black community such as unemployment, high school drop out rates etc. I think laws such as this is ridiculous.

I think the NAACP are idiots at this point. The kids are in school, wearing your pants so your underwear and butt are seen by everyone that obviously does NOT want to see it is just annoying, rude and distasteful. And, oddly enough, the last time I checked Black males were not the only people wearing their pants that way. They can't say it's discriminatory to one group when anyone can be offended and claim it's discrimination. When kids are in school, they're there to learn, not to flash their goods to everyone they see. So obviously, the school has the right to enforce whatever dress code they wish to enforce.

It really pisses me off when people like the NAACP claims that its discriminatory against blacks. Quit calling the race ticket people.. if they were discriminating then they would SAY black students are not permitted to wear baggy clothing yet white students are. Yes, schools need to set such a dress code and enforce it by all students. Common sense says thats not discrimination. Great post Mooch!

They all need to get fines for being so stupid. Some of them don't even bath the night before and you can see them walking around in the same nasty azz underwear. I don't think they are being against blacks. It's just that those are the ones who do it most as they are wanna bees.

I think it's pretty gross seeing guys and some girls as well in pants with their butts hanging out. More of a sexual distraction in schools so yes, the schools should ban them. Heck, I think it should be a nationwide ban.
