why so many young men pierced ears?

i'm almost 38 but i look early to mid 20's.
i initially had my ears pierced because i REALLY wanted to feel what it felt like to get to eventually wear heavy dangly earrings.i stretched my earlobes out over time till i was able to wear those extra thick upside down u shaped ones with the metal balls attatched to the bottom of each side.they're heavy and you can REALLY feel them on you're lobes.the weight and the swinging feels blissfull and just Awesome basically.Kind of like i'm intoxicated but not with a chemical or a drug.
I intuitively knew that i'd love how they'd feel once i got to wear the thick heavy ones.those thin wired ones all the ladies wear make the earlobes rip down the middle because it's like a cheesecutter wire.the type i wear are thick all the way around.they cant tear through the earlobe like the conventional hoop girl ones.
i dont wear them at all for the fashion.i wear them all out 100% for the beautifull and blissfull feeling they give to my earlobes.
