Practice writing... Add your twists and turns to this story.... |
|
There are a lot of different techniques for coming up with ideas for stories etc. This is one that works well in groups... A story that all of us can create together. I will start and you will follow, adding your own plot line, new characters, twists, turns, dialogue, sights, sounds, etc... until the story reaches a natural conclusion... In this posting process, it is preferred for you to respond to the previous post, taking the story from there instead of just responding to the original post as this will improve the flow of the story. So let us begin: The moon rose slowly and 10-year-old Jack Watkins stood in his backyard looking through a telescope. He was hoping to see something far out in space or even something close up. He did not care really what he saw. His parents were at him again about school and he needed an escape. It was tough being a student.

1. palonghorn (2560) | 5 months ago | As he stood there looking at the night sky through his telescope, he wondered what it must be like to fly into outer space. But, just at that moment his mother called to him that it was time to come in and get ready for bed, after all it was a school night. Why did it seem that everything revolved around school. Fifth grade wasn't easy for a boy of his age at a new school. His parents had moved to another school district when his baby sister was born last summer.

3. MichaelJay (685) | 5 months ago | What he saw next made him forget all about school and his problems there. Through the telescope, across his field of vision, brilliantly silhouetted against the pearly moon, he saw the distinct black shape of a witch sitting on a broomstick, flying across the sky. Jack blinked in disbelief and ran into the house to tell his anyone who would listen.

whiteheron (912) | 5 months ago | His parents came outside with him to see what he had seen but they could not see anything at all out there so they told him to "quit fooling around and tell us the truth next time." His parents went back inside and left him standing outside, still holding his telescope, a gift from his older brother who was in Iraq. He, once again, started looking around out side with his telescope and saw a...

| 4. ceci2176 (24) | 5 months ago | [Interesting idea] Especially when the words and numbers never seemed to stay still on the page as you tried to read them, and your hand kept confusing letters with each other. And no one really cared to figure out why, either. So Jack hoped to be rescued by some alien community which would see him as a wise man to go to for advise, or to be the witness of some heinous crime where he would be instrumental in it being solved and afterward being lauded with praise for the good deed he had done. But he knew it would never happen, because he was an idiot. After all, both his parents and his teachers told him so.

whiteheron (912) | 5 months ago | Jack breathed in deeply the night air...The thoughts of school time troubles, his dyslexia which made the letters on the page confusing to him, his parents' unkind words resulting from not understanding his problem, and the thoughts of perhaps someday finding someone or something that would value him as he was, drifted away in a hurry as he saw a....
