I have always used Intiel so I am not really sure about it. I would suggest Intel myself. I have never heard a bad thing about them.

| 3. GigglesGrobanite (84) | 8 months ago | i had a pentium and it was very cranky. i've used AMD for the past 5 years and i love it. also it is not possible to switch out a pentium chip for another to upgrade as the connections are different. with AMD they are interchangeable.

If you are sticking with a single core processor: AMD Processors are superior for gaming however they run alot hotter then Intels. Intel processors are better at encoding, decoding, or ripping movies and music, or for running servers (hyperthreading). If you are wanting a dual core processor: Dual core is when you have 2 cores mounted onto 1 cpu. Essentially its like having 2 CPUs in your computer. I'm not 100% up to date on dual core technology as I just recently switched myself (to an AMD processor). So far dual core processors seem to be pretty equal when Intel VS AMD. Quad Core Processors: This is unfortuntely where Intel takes the cake. The Intel quad cores seem to be far superior then the new AMD Phenom processors no matter what your doing. For the price you end up paying for it all though, its not worth the upgrade to quad core yet... just my 2 cents. Hope this information helps you (or anyone)

| Badams (78) | 8 months ago | I forgot to mention. AMD Processors are cheaper then Intel processors and are not any less quality then Intel. AMD Processors also use a lower clock speed but are still comparable to higher clocked Intel processors. For example an Athlon XP 2600+ runs at 2.13Ghz. However the Model number (2600+) means that it is the equivelent speed as a Pentium 4 running at 2.6Ghz.

| 5. Stif_11 (47) | 8 months ago | fir me the best is AMD maybe this is based from my experieince in amd because i haven's used intel since i bought my computer.. the edge of this to the other competitors such as intel is that AMD is much cheaper than intel but has the quality that can do as the same as the intel can do. the only diference is the are different in showing the speed of the computer like for example athlon 64x2 4200 it is only 2.2 ghz but in intel it has a different acronym or so whatever.

6. tintusam (1055) | 1 month ago | Intel is tried and true; AMD is right up there, with their support and quality products. So, it is really a question of who you like between the two. Once you install the chip, you can't tell the differece in their performances. if you want value for money go for amd processor (heats up very fast and will be wiser to have a liquid cooling system installed). or if you want sheer performance without any disturbances go for intel. also check out the core 2 quad processors (q6xxx) series instead of core 2 duo's. the quads are much faster and cooler. They both are equal in performance and reliability. Only decision point will be which is cheaper. I hasten to guess AMD.
