 Use a 30-day list. To curb impulse buys, create a 30-day list. When you want to buy something, other than a true necessity (medicine or food, for example), put it on this list, with the date you added it to the list. And make it a rule that you can’t buy anything for at least 30 days after you put it on the list. Go over the list and take things off if you really dont want them or thing they are not needed. You will buy a lot less.

Thats a totally new approach for me and I will sure give it a try. I believe it works very well, mainly for those who ask themselves how can I buy less stuff.

But I could also include some books in my 30 days wish list. Even in my case I bet that some wishes will vanish with it. Thats also true with books as with other items. | |

Whenever I see something in a store, I really try and go over whether or not it would be extremely beneficial to have on hand right at that moment. If I can't come up with a good reason as to why it would be beneficial, I try to ignore the urge to buy it and move on. Then, if I'm still interested in the item about a week or so later, then I really consider buying it, even if I don't buy it right away. Of course if I wait long enough on certain items, the urge goes away and I don't have to worry about buying it. Always saves me the trouble. I just have to get past the strong urge in the store which is always the hardest part.
