Because it is not always what it seems.
Could be, there is a jealous women out there who wants him to leave you.
So she can continue.
On the other hand it could be the start of a relationship.
Cheating I mean.
Cause a man that is cheating, makes sure there is no lipstick on his collar!
I think you could still fix the relationship at that time.
Lot´s of talking to each other, so you both know where you stand. And what it is you both want. How you can change to have more fun in your relationship ect.
And if then he tell´s me, he slept with another.

I know that you all probably think that I am not being realistic but I am. Why assume the worse. I would at the very least let him explain and if the explanation didn't sound very feasable than I would tell him off and let him know it is over. For without trust there is no relationship.
