Elixiress (1790) | 3 months ago | Well since I was 11 when I got mine pierced and I passed out, I think there is a degree of pain involved. It is just children have a habit of pulling on other people's earrings (my sister used to do it to me and my Mam when she was little) so there is nothing stopping them pulling at their own ears and ripping them. It is just personal opinion, I just think it is too young. How do you know she even wants them pierced?

| bloodhunter13 (78) | 3 weeks ago | well i guess it's easier to let the holes close when she grows up and decided not to wear any than later when she grows up and decided she wanted to get some piercings and she got them done in the wrong places. lol:P yeah, kids can have the option not to wear earrings once they can decide for themselves (if they are not comfortable with having things stuck on their ears) but given the option to have holes in earlier life when the lobe is not as thick than having to endure the pain when she is a bit older (teen and above) you can say it is a good thing. again, refer to my above statement i got mine done when i was a baby. i never know how the pain feels like for babies but no trauma whatsoever from it. i stopped wearing earrings for about 3 years once and later wear them again. i'm glad the holes were still there so there's no need to do it again (but i got more piercings done later. hehe)

Elixiress (1790) | 3 weeks ago | Personally, I got my ears done at 11 and I did not think that it hurt too bad, just a slight pain and I have low pain tolerance. I suppose it is up to the individual parents. I don't think it is quite as bad if the child is wearing studs rather than hoops.

sophiasmom911 (874) | 3 months ago | your right. Its a lot easier. Sophia doesnt even mess with her ears. When they get toddler age they question everything and will mess with them therefore they might not heal as well!

3. revellanotvanella (394) | 3 months ago | I didnt get my daughter, 3, peirced until she was 1 1/2 but they always fell out and were so hard to put back in before the ear healed and worse, their sharp at the end and they will not give you the other kinds because they wont peirce. It was either getting caught on her blanket or when I was taking her clothes off and after the second peicing my bf stopped bothering with it. Thankfully, his sisters took her to get them peirced this year and they finally healed and leads me to wonder if the earrings were just not that good a quality because they seemed to heal much quicker when they had it done--a different state and it was the typical piercing pagoda and their earrings never fell out. My mother in law bought a really nice pair of ear rings for her in Turkey that lock and are really hard to get off, exactly what i wanted. Our second daughter, now 20 months, I really want to get her ear rings done but my bf doesnt want to now because of the experience with our first one but when their tiny earrings are adorable but basically the snagging is the reason we never got it done sooner. My sister did with her daughter she just had at less than 2 months and its cute but i just worry about infection but I don't get all wound up that someone else does it to their kids, come on--what about circumcision??

4. Anhedonia (1781) | 3 months ago | I never even thought about doing that, but I have seen a fair number of babies with pierced ears. I guess it's common in some cultures. They do look cute. I would just be afraid because babies are always grabbing their ears to play with, also they like to put things in their mouths. Seems like the earrings would be easily lost or swallowed.

7. kbourgerie (1516) | 3 months ago | I wanted very much to get my daughter's ears pierced when she was little, but had to think twice about it, because as her father told me if God wanted her to have holes in her body, he would have put them there. It wasn't our choice to determine whether or not to make that decision. If later in life she wanted to have pierced ears then`it would be her decision to make. She did eventually decide, like most girls do, to get her ears pierced.

8. stephcjh (10671) | 3 months ago | My daughter is now 16 years old. I got her ears pierced when she was 2 months old. She now has several piercings in her ears. She has three on the lower part and two up above on the cartlidge. I'm glad I got my daughters done also when she was young. She didn't even flinch or cry.

9. drknlvly6781 (1761) | 3 months ago | I guess I am weird. I don't think its right to get a baby's ears pierced. I want to wait until my daughter understands what it is, and comes to me to ask for it to be done. I was 11 when I got my ears pierced the first time, and it was up to me to take care of them. I did pretty good too! They never got infected, and even now they never close up, although I don't wear earrings all that much.

10. hornswaggled (856) | 3 months ago | I'm not a fan of doing anything to my child that isn't necessary. I don't think we should put our ideas of beauty on our children but let them learn to like who they are before they start to change. My daughter wanted to color her hair in the 6th grade and I wouldn't let her so she went to her friends and did it anyway. When I picked her up I told her that this wouldn't be happening again if she wanted to drive. She wasn't very happy with me; but when she turned 18 I paid for a trip to a fancy salon and had her pick the color of her choice. She is now 25 and loves her own hair. She doesn't pierce anything and is perfectly happy with who she is. I am not saying that I don't think you should have done it but I wanted something different for my kids. To each his own I say....
