Overly Sensitive |
|
Is there something you are overly sensitive about? When you hear something said about the subject, you automatically think people are referring to you? Or if they bring up a subject you think they are just trying to push your buttons? Maybe it is just something you have been through, and you have firm thoughts about it, and you don't like it when someone varies from what you actually know about the subject. It has to be hard to go through life without having at least one thing we are overly sensitive about at one time or other. I know that I used to be overly sensitive about a few things until one day I tried to really look at it objectively. And truthfully, I was jumping to conclusions about what people meant when they talked to me about certain things. I think I was hearing one thing, but interpreting it as something else. I try not to do that anymore. What about you?

2. winterose (12028) | 5 months ago | no I don't automatically think somebody is talking about me because they mention a subject, but I do always think of the underdog and stick up for them, if you ever read my books you will see that is my signature writing. I am not really overly sensitive about anything really, I learned to toughen up a long time ago. However, if you catch me when I am already stressed out over something and then bring up a subject that I hold near and dear to me even if it is not what I am stressed out about you will not necessarily get the cool calm clear things winterose, but you will get the stressed out version.

AmbiePam (10326) | 5 months ago | Yeah, I think that as a fine character trait to have, not being overly sensitive. We need people to stick up for the underdog.

|
minnie_98214 (3904) | 5 months ago | No kidding we should at least get a few months after to get the hormones back to a semi normal state. We are woman so we get some leverage with hormones being slightly wacky as a norm seting lol.

6. ellie333 (4702) | 5 months ago | Well they do say that only 10% of the reason we get upset over a situation is 90% due to past experiences that trigger the reation so yes I guess we all have something we are extra sensitive about. I immediately thought no there isn't really anything but then thought again and I think the thing with me is people saying anything about my parenting, my discipline with my children etc. cos as a single mum you tend to get a lot of cristism and I think mine stemmed from when I was married due to my ex-husbands mother overseeing my every move with my eldest from how I bathed, changed and dressed my child so now when someone says 'you should tell him not to .........' I get annoyed very quickly. I think I have a achieved a lot but there is no rule book and still feel insecure as to whether I have made right decisions in certain circumstances. Ellie:D

7. mtdewgurl74 (5137) | 5 months ago | I am overly sensitive about my weight and I am always hearing others saying how fat they are and that they need to lose the weight and that they have to stop being pigs when eating and they aren't even that big so it makes me feel bad and sometimes it makes me feel as though they are telling me that I should be ashamed to have let myself get so heavy and that I must be a pig and eat all the time which I don't. I just didn't do alot after I ate but sit in front of a computer all day now I make sure that I get away for exercise for atleast a hour even if all I do is walk and a few other exercises. I know I am reading more into it then I should. I have lost weight this year after being tired of being so big now I have lost 70 pounds now. But I still feel self consious about it and sensitive especially since I have so far still to go to my goal.

AmbiePam (10326) | 5 months ago | I understand. I really do. And you want to tell them to be quiet and be grateful for the figure they have, which is not big at all. You know trying so hard to watch every calorie, and you see someone thin gobble up everything without putting on a pound. Granted, there are people with eating disorders that make themselves thin, but on the whole, they are NOT the people we happen to be around. And to lose weight a person really needs to be in a positive envrionment, which I gather is something you don't have. You have come so far by yourself.

AmbiePam (10326) | 5 months ago | You're doing so well, I wish I could be your cheerleader! It takes a lot of determination to lose weight. I know there was a time I kept thinking, what does it matter, it's impossible to do. But I started thinking, time is going to pass anyway, why not make an effort? And boy is it hard. So anytime you want to talk about anything, weight or whatever, just let me know. But I hope you are eating better tasting food than I am. I'm currently living on oatmeal and veggies.: )

AmbiePam (10326) | 5 months ago | You know, it bugs the heck out of me when people get on someone for weight. A lot of times people have actual diseases that cause them to gain weight, through no fault of their own. Or they have a disability that makes it almost impossible to exercise.

10. AmberNormandin (738) | 5 months ago | I am that way about ALOT of things...I have on friend in particular who will talk about "people in general" and i always feel like she's talking about ME. When i go to explain why i do/say things, she'll always say "I dont mean you!" but sometimes I bet she does! I try not to worry about things people say, but it is hurtful when you feel like people are talking badly of you. Its easy to become paranoid.
