 I'm starting early this year. I'm shopping for Christmas in May. I get such great deals at the department store in which I work, why not? Just Saturday, I got a Homedics Deep Tissue Chair Cushion for $16? Can you believe that? I'll never leave my mylot armchair now. LOL. Anyway, getting great deals has prompted me to think about starting on Christmas, that way I avoid all the expense in one lump at the end of the year. When do you begin shopping for Christmas? Do you plan ahead or do you ALWAYS wait until the very last minute?

So I made our christmas list of who we need to buy for and decided who I am going to buy for each month between now and December. This way I can look for sales and avoid those last days crowds. I can keep myself from being broke for 3 months after Christmas too. lol

Also because of the poor economy, I think the stores will be offering more bargains to try and get people in the door. Other than HDTVs, which everyone will have to get before February of next year, I think if you buy throughout the year, you will be in good shape come December

But I have actually this year started saving from the beginning of this month, well, last week and so hopefully by the time it comes I will have a nice little stash put away. Time to start getting back into the christmas spirit again.

The trouble with starting earlier for me was that often time lets say I know someone needed a coffee maker let's say I would go out and get one, and before christmas roles around the person went out and bought one themselves or someone else bought it for them during the year. But if you are getting unusual gifts that is great to start that early.

| 7. cher913 (8872) | 7 months ago |  oh, well i have a good base started with my christmas shopping. i always, always, always shop all year round for birthdays and christmas! by doing this, you can generally get a lot of your presents on sale (last year, we got 3 items of clothing from a brand name store for our teenage daughter - in july! the store was having a closeout sale and had 5 items for $30! you cant beat a deal like that and at christmas time, the sales arent that great!

| 8. mummymo (10638) | 7 months ago |  Every year at Christmas I decide I am going to start shopping for the next one in the January sales but I am so broke in Janauary I cannot afford to - specially as I have 4 nieces and nephews with their birthdays in that month! lol I do put things away throughout the year but not enough, can't really buy big presents for the kids etc too far in advance as their likes and dislikes change so often! lol Well done you though for getting a start on it! xxx

When I find something I buy it in advance and I also write it down in a notepad so when Birthdays or Christmas cast their shadows I can look up whether I have found anything nice for this special person yet.
But I start in October with that Christmas shopping and planning for real.

It does make sense too. Afterall the deals at christmas time is not always the best. (lol)
