After a few days, Rose would realize that Jack was, indeed, well below her social standing and the excitement of the cruise would have worn off. She would have strung Jack along some to make her other suitors jealous, and also to add a bit of novelty to her lifestyle, but she wouldn't really have been interested in Jack.
Jack would spend many a tragic year hoping for her attentions before one day realizing what an awful, self centered, selfish person Rose really is, and he would have moved to a small town in America where he invented the FloBee hair cutting system.
