You mean snails? No, I never wanted to try them. I just find it so odd that people do eat this. I'd rather eat something that won't make me sick. I just have that feeling that escargot will do that.

myLot reputation of 94/100. serendib (671)  3 months ago

Yes, sea snails. I don't think you'd get sick or grossed out by eating it. You should really try it someday. I like to eat them when it's prepared in garlic sauce. When I use to visit my uncle in Canada he use to always make it for me when he got back home from work. You really should try it. Thanks for your response.

Escargo comes from France. I took french class in high school and during my junior year in high school it was my last year of taking French class. So the french teacher took us to a French restaurant. I tasted escargo and it's not really that bad. I only tasted like one piece because of the cost. So that me and the there other friends that were in my table we had to share it. So I don't really remember what it taste like anymore but I do know that I didn't find it that bad when I tasted it that time.

Yes you're right escargots come from France. I didn't know that escargots were expensive in France. It's been awhile since I had them as well but I do have still not forgotten after all these years how tasty they are especially when their prepared in garlic sauce or garlic butter. Thank you for your reply.

OH YES!! Am in total agreement that a Garlic, Butter and Herb, tops all others as of now. However, almost ranking up there, was each topped with a Combination of Breading and Spinach. What made it memorable was the Mixture was not only perfectly seasoned, but had a almost 'fluffy' Texture that melted and left my Tongue searching long after swallowing. I tried to bribe its Creator, but failed miserably, and not just once either.
Just as informational and from having been a Victim, it forces me to admit, a couple of times it was so nasty, I wanted to shave my Tongue to lose the Taste.
Shame on you, now I am hungry...hehehe.

I never had escargots in a breading and spinach mixture. Sounds delicious. Thank you for your response.

No, I don't think I have eaten escargots. I don't know that. How is it being cooked? and What is the description of that?

myLot reputation of 94/100. serendib (671)  2 months ago

Escargots are a type of edible sea snails that are found in France. The way I remember how my uncle use to prepare it was that he'd first remove them from the shells and then clean the escargots. I really can't remember exactly how he cleaned it. He'd then prepare a garlic sauce with herbs. He had these miniature baking pans with handles and there were hollow spaces in them where he'd put each escargot in. Then he'd put the galic sauce over it and bake it. It really was delicious. You really should try it. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Thank you for your reply.

My husband loves to eat escargot. I tried eating it once but I really couldn't remember how it tasted. Though I have a feeling that since it was all buried with butter and garlic, it must be have been good. Seafood cooked with garlic and butter, e.g. shrimp, or seafood dipped with garlic and butter, e.g. lobster, are really delicious! Escargot came from France and I heard that the way of eating lobster dipped with garlic and butter is a French-Canadian thing. Maybe I'll try escargot again..after eating lobster!:)

Your husband has good taste for seafood and so do you. I love lobster and like you said, it's great with garlic and butter. I didn't know that eating lobster with garlic and butter was a French -Canadian thing. Thanks for the info and thank you for your response. happy

I do. I like escargot. It is tasty and high in protein. I don't know where is the dish originated but I do know that asian also eat it for many years. I also have eat different kind of cooking style for snail. We have a snail chips in here. It is deep fried and dry it and then pack it in a plastic bag.

myLot reputation of 94/100. serendib (671)  1 month ago

Yes I agree, escargots are very tasty and the dish is believed to have originated when Fulvius Hirpinus first instituted snail preserves at Tarquinium, a Tuscan city not far from Rome at about 50 BC. You can read more about it at http://www.rirdc.gov.au/reports/NAP/00-188.htm I'd love to taste snail chips. You are very lucky to be able to do so. Thank you for your response. happy
