 Years ago, when I had my ears pierced, I was so afraid that it would hurt. Of course, I'd heard all the horror stories from my friends about how painful ear-lobe piercing would be. And, I guess it usually is.
So, I put a dab of Oragel on my ear lobes and it barely hurt at all. I wanted to pass that tip along to anyone who might be getting their ear lobes pierced soon. I guess you could use Ambesol, because it's basically the same thing. Anyway, that's my best tip for an ouchless ear lobe piercing experience. Hope that helps.
What's your best tip for getting your ears pierced without pain? Did you use ice on the ear lobes? Does that really work?

1.  freak369 (3109) | 3 months ago |  That isn't a good idea. Any type of a topical numbing agent could distort the skin and leave you with an uneven piercing. Getting your ears pierced isn't a big deal, if you can't handle the 2 seconds of pain from the gun putting it through the lobe then stick with clip on ones.

| 2. Celanith (1289) | 3 months ago |  Well it took me til I was 40 to get my ears pierced and it did hurt even with the gun and was sore for six weeks. But I like to wear earrings. Clip ons never worked they always pinched my ears too much.
My 11 year old granddaughter is afraid of getting her's pierced due to pain but she might eventually.
My daughter had her's done by a friend ice cubes and a sterilized needle and she had earrings to put in that were okay to wear for the six weeks needed. I had to treat her ears twice though as she would forget to turn the earrings a few times.

Mostly cause I waited until I was almost thirty to get my ear lobes pierced, so I can definitely relate. But, things turned out OK. I think it was like fifteen bucks and that included the 14K starter earrings. So, it wasn't a bad deal. Weird to think that they let the Walmart do surgery. Well, almost surgery. I guess you really can get just about anything there. That day I picked up cat food and got my ears done. So, it wasn't a bad day at all. | |

I've always been really needle-phobic and the thought of getting my ears pierced now wouldn't appeal to me much, so it amazes me that I was able to do it when I was fourteen. I was even more scared of needles back then but I think my desire to have it done and be like everyone else must have over-ridden the fear (can't believe I was such a sheep though!!).
As for reducing the pain, maybe you could try self-hypnosis, relaxation exercises or meditation?

I think it is painfull but I supposed not because my daughters ears was pierced by her nanny when she was on her younger years and she did not cry.
