spare the grief, give cash?

Sometimes it is easier to just give or get cash or gift cards. My oldest daughter is getting at an age where she is getting harder to buy for and my parents and my husband's parents find it easier to give her cash or a gift card. She loves it because she can get what she wants. And kids always love getting cash as gifts. I know I like getting those kinds of gifts from time to time as well.

i am so glad to hear that you got to order that camera that you have been wanting for awhile now. whoo hoo! that is nice. so have you already won the bid for the camera on e-bay's website? did you "buy it now" or what is the deal on your camera? and about the cash or gift card thing. that all depends on if i know the person that i am getting the gift card for or whatever. if i do not know a person all that well, then a gift card would be the way that i would go. but if it was for myself like a present that somebody was giving me or something like that, then it wouldn't matter to me if it was cash or a gift card. i enjoy them both. lol you know? you can get any kind of a gift card these days that you can think of. gas cards, restaurant cards, department stores and grocery stores just to name a few that offer gift cards. i like my wal-mart card, you can add money to it and have it like a small personal savings account. i need to add some cash to mine during the summer and fall time of this year so that that will help me out with my Christmas shopping this year.

It really does depend on the person, some people think it is insulting to give cash or gift cards because you did not put any thought into the gift, and others like me prefer it. You really have to know who you are giving it too.

I asked my Children last Christmas what they wanted and all I got is well we don't as we have most things (spoilt or what lol) so I bought them a little something and gave them Money to get something when they see what they want

Even from my husband, I like to get gift cards. That way I can spend them whenever and he doesn't get stressed out. Plus he is notorious for spending too much money. Gift cards help with that as well.

I am sooo into gift cards. I would rather give a gift card so the person can do what they want. If the person isn't so well off I just give them a Walmart card so they can get gas or food or whatever they want. I would appreciate that too. My daughter is a better shopper than I am.. she bought me a mothers day gift that is so beautiful.. she got me a fuschia top with a square neck and white jeans.. and it is so pretty! I can't seem to shop for myself so well.

I would much rather give cash or a gift card these days, it seems to get harder and harder to choose gifts for people, plus my relations that are children always seem to have everything so there is nothing that I can get them. Plus it is hard if you do not really feel like going shopping for a gift, when you are not in the mood, I think that the gift reflects the mood and so it can be really hard. At least with cash you do not have to worry about buying the wrong gift and also the person can just get what they want.

I'm with you here Mooch. I don't find it impersonal at all either when someone gives these to me. I find it practical and that way I can surely get what I want or need.
I give these to most people as gifts and they are always appreciative. Besides, I'm horrible at picking out gifts for people.
