How do you remove an Ink stain from Leather? HELP! |
|
My new wallet which I bought from Nine West (which was quite costly) has a little ball pen ink stain.*ouch*. I have tried soap and water, and alcohol but there is no effect. I'm afraid to use acetone or any other solvents because it might make the damage worse.=( Help please?

1. madlees (1105) | 2 months ago | Hi, Alcohol Method Very gently rub stained area with a clean white towel using rubbing alcohol/surgical spirit. Be gentle, as this will quickly take off the stain and the surface finish of the leather. Let dry completely. If you notice that the glossy shine has gone away, rub in some leather shoe polish. Buff it and you should restore the leather to its previous condition. Vaseline Method Put a generous amount of Vaseline on the spot. Take a cloth and spray it with hairspray. Rub the cloth gently on the ink spot. Nail Polish Remover Method Dab some non-acetone nail polish remover onto a piece of paper towel or tissue. Rub lightly onto the ink stain. The ink will disappear immediately. Wipe clean with wet cloth. Rub dry with towel. Check it out at this site. http://www.wikihow.com/Re... and also http://www.ehow.com/how_1... for all types of stains.

3. Loverbear (346) | 2 months ago | You might want to take it to your local cleaners, preferably one that does leather cleaning. They have solutions that are formulated especially for leather and won't harm the leather. Also you could go to a leather retailer as they may know of someone who could help you out with the spot. When you spend a lot of money for a leather item you sure don't want to use home remedies on the ink.

4. jillmalitz (2474) | 2 months ago | Have you tried liquid dish detergent? I have used that before. Or even vinegar may help. What ever you do, dont put a stained garment in the dryer cause then any stain will be set. On leather you might look on the net or ask a leather merchant what would be good for cleaning stains.

5. Ldyjarhead (2806) | 2 months ago | I know hair spray was supposed to be good for ink on clothing. Try just a dab of hairspray on a cloth first and rub that and see how it does. If it starts to work and doesn't look like it's doing any damage, you could add a little more and rub harder.
