Does motherhood ends when your last child leaves home?

From the moment you give birth and become a mother that is for life and even though two of mine have left home I am still their mother and I am still there for them, still worry over them and it is something I would never want to resign from. I love being a mum and I don't think you ever stop being as long as you live I definately agree it is a lifetime career. Ellie:D

i think motherhood is a lifelong career. your kids might have their own families and left you alone, but that doesn't mean you, being their mom ends there... you still need each other to lean on to, like friends and like you always do as a family

No, just taking care of your child does. Now that they are grown and mature enough, they can take care of themselves. It never ends here. You are always going to be a mother. Just mothering your child will be. They are old enough to make their own decisions.

If you become a mothr I would say you will stay a mother for the rest of your life. I have never met a mother that stopped caring about their children and mothering them when they move away from their first home.

I believe you never stop being a mother to your kids.
Being a mother is a life long thing, your advice and guidence, will still be sought after even when your kids are grown with families of their own.
The difference is that after they're grown you'll be mothering them in other ways.
I have to say that being a mother doesn't come with an expiration date.

Motherhood never ends. But that is a good thing. My mother is still very active in my life. She gives me advice, comforts me when I need it, and encourages me to be the best me I can be. If motherhood ends when the child leaves the home, I don't know where I'd be today, its because of my mother that I am where I am and have what I have(including my children). I want to be an active part of my adult children's lives, as well as my grand children's lives.

Personally I do not think so as this topic and matter just reminds me of Mother Teresa and Mother Mary. I hope motherhood remains as long as the long the effection is shwon as a mother shows to the childern. Hope the last part would be grandmother. May be the reporductive part may block still even the doctors has remedies for that too. May be I do hope motherhood goes on as along the women possess and shows it as and when it is needed.

I will never think my motherhood will be over when my daughter leaves home, after that its the joy of helping her if she needs it watching her grow even more. college,marriage,children. If it ended then you'd never be their for them or watch their adulthood.

I'll be a mother until the day I die..in fact my kids could be well into their 50s and I'll STILL be the mom ya know...I've met ppl who've had that "motherhood ends when they leave home" mindset and quite frankly i just dont get it..HOW could a mother STOP being a mother just because their child grows up and moves out?? Just because they dont live with you anymore doesnt mean they arent still your child? Just because they become adults doesnt mean you stop parenting them ya know..it just shifts thats all..but it never "stops"

not at all, how can that be possible. infact the mother should be happy that she has bought her kids up to stand on their own feet. that would not stop her from being their mother right??? a mother will always be a mother and she would always have her motherly duties when a child needs them no matter how old they are. i live away from my mother, but her mother hood is very much the same.
