My last discussion is this one |
|
I just wanted to let the few people that actually respond to my discussions know that this will be my last discussion. I will stay at myLot and respond to posts, but I will longer be posting my own discussions. In case you care to know why, it's because I barely get any responses. I still have discussions with 0-1 responses. I can give the best response to the 1, but not to the 0. Almost all of the posts have been under 5 replies, so I just don't see the need. Thank you to the few of you that did respond to my posts!!!

1. wayz12 (532) | 2 months ago | To be honest, I know exactly how you feel. I started some discussions too, and I get one or almost no response at all. Maybe my topics are too specific or does not appeal to the majority. So yes, in some way, I think that might be a good move on your part, and who knows, I might just follow your example. The good thing though, is you still decide to stick around, and response to other people's discussions.

AmbiePam (9775) | 2 months ago | I took a look at your profile, and you do have quite a few friends. But it took me it seemed like forever for a lot of people to start responding. What did it was getting more and more friends. I didn't take just anyone, because sometimes you run into people you really don't want responding to your discussions, lol. But even in the list of friends we all have, some are not active, and have not been in a while. That makes it even harder to get responses because the friends you have, are not always on a lot.

wayz12 (532) | 2 months ago | That is pretty good advice. I admit my visits to mylot is sporadic as well, so I guess I lose contact with my friends. Just like you, I get slightly picky when it comes to adding friends. Oh well, I guess I just have to come up with interesting topics to talk about or simply respond to other people discussions...

dmillman (920) | 2 months ago | Thanks wayz12 and AmbiePam. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that's been having these issues. The ironic part is that I just looked up at my friends section of myLot and see that there are 6 pending friends requests. Maybe I just needed to complain to get some action around here - LOL!!!

2. katsmeow1213 (891) | 2 months ago | I know how you feel. I start a lot of discussions, some get no responses, some get one or two, and once or twice I've gotten near 20 responses. But I'm not ready to give up. I like to think of discussions that may actually get a lot of responses, so I keep trying. Maybe some day you'll come up with a good one, just keep trying. I think part of it depends on the day. Having a lot of friends helps because they'll see your discussions and probably respond to them. I have 1 friend who almost always responds to all my discussions, then her friends see it and respond too.

dmillman (920) | 2 months ago | I've been trying to add more and more friends, which is what someone suggested before when I was first having this issue. It just doesn't seem to be working for me. Well, except for this discussion - it seems to have tons of responses.

3. AmbiePam (9775) | 2 months ago | It took me a long while before I had enough friends to get regular responses from people. Even now I occasionally get like 2-5 responses. I'm sorry you aren't going to post anymore, but if you change your mind, I have your notification on.

| |

|
dmillman (920) | 2 months ago | Thanks AmbiePam, I'm glad to know that. What exactly does that mean that you'll have my notification on? Does that mean that you get notified when I post a discussion or something?
| |
|
|
AmbiePam (9775) | 2 months ago | When you click on the top line where it says messages, friends, photos...If you click on friends it shows who is on your list, and gives you the opportunity to turn the notifications for them on or off. I have all of my friends notifiers on, so I am notified every time any of them post a discussion.

4. p1kef1sh (2243) | 2 months ago | Never say never. I had something like seven discussions with no responses and felt like you do. A kind friend replied to a couple just so that I could notch up a few more, but there are still two or three lurking on my profile. There is no magic formula to getting loads of responses. Some just fly - often the ones that you think are weak - and others bomb completely. It doesn't matter who you are, how long you have been here or what the topic is. Your friends do help, because some of them will respond to your stuff, but one day things do pick up. Rest it for a while and try again. We'll be waiting for you.

5. Hatley (8551) | 2 months ago | I am so sorry you feel that way. I know it must be really frustrating to get no responses to your discussions but have you figured out why? I mean maybe they are'too short or you picked topics that have been discussed to death. i have had just one with no response and several with just a few then alsosome with as many as 70 so it does vary. If it were me I would try again and do youhave a number of friends? the more you make the more they may respond to your discussions. dmillman I hate to see you just'give up as mylotters are usually very king. give us another chance I will for one reply to your discussions. okay?

dmillman (920) | 2 months ago | Thanks Hatley. I've got quite a few friends, but most seem to be not very active. Is it bad of me to get rid of the inactive people? Do they get a notification if I decide to drop them? Does it hurt to have non-active friends?

6. tjades (780) | 2 months ago | Hi Dmillman. I just visited your profile and saw where up to year ago some of your discussions reigned in as much as 60+ and 70+ responses. I would sugest that you guve yourself some time and really just respond to discussions until you come up with topics more freely. I have responded far more than I have posted discussions as i am not versatile in starting discussions which attract many responses. The highest number of responses to any of my discussions is just 30+. Never gone to 40. So do take heart. If you visit my profile you'll see wnat I mean. Sometimes I just respond instead of posting. I am just not one of the best discussion starters here on mylot. All the best. (lol)

dmillman (920) | 2 months ago | Thank you tjades. I never really looked at the number of posts some of my other discussions have "reined in" (as you worded it) and never thought of it. I was just going by the 'unresolved discussions' and it was depressing me. Guess I should have looked at the other side before making such a decision.

7. Ldyjarhead (2806) | 2 months ago | One of the reasons you may not be getting many responses is that you don't have a lot of interests listed. The more interests and friends that you have, the more your discussions will be seen on people's home pages. I have a lot of friends so don't have them all set to get every discussion emailed to me, but I do check the home page constantly to see what my friends have started and also what discussions were started in my interests. If you posted them in obscure interest areas that don't get a lot of traffic, they won't be seen much, resulting in fewer responses.

8. slothgurl (226) | 2 months ago | Yeah I know how you feel. I have started maybe 20 discussions and most of them only have one response. I even asked for advice on what color to color my hair, and nobody replied at all! I was kind of bummed. But I still come on here to see what's on other peoples minds, anad comment, like now. Maybe 3 months from now I'll get a reply on an old post or something. Oh well..... #:)

10. jewelenterprises (534) | 2 months ago | I'm sorry to hear that you have decided to post no more discussions. I know it can be frustrating getting few or no responses. Actually, the other day I was really surprised by my earnings. I had a really busy day and had no time to post on mylot so I didn't contribute at all. However, the day before I had posted about 5 discussions and the day I didn't post I had about 35 responses to those discussions (so an average of 7 responses to each which is a pretty low average) yet I still managed to earn $0.57 for the day... without posting ANY discussions OR posting responses. Okay, I'll be honest. I'm hoping this response might dissuade you from stopping from posting discussions. As you can see, posting discussions allows you to earn without putting in all the work yourself. Actually, it's probably the lazy way to earn on mylot. I've seen plenty of people say they earn about 1.5 cents per response (and that's about my average also). But when you think about my earnings that day I earned over $0.11 per post... without doing any work! The following day I posted a response to each response and ended up earning over $1 for the day.
