anyone share this interest as me? | | i am someone who likes reading manga(jap comics) or watching anime. basically cartoons though more geared towards those japanese types if you know what i mean. my siblings who are all younger than me tell me that i'm so childish despite my age. my hubby too does not approve as i tend to get really hooked on them if i get a chance to read or watch. thus internet is my only option when my hubby isn't around. i can do as i please then. but sometimes, i too feel am i the only one who's like this. sure i have met very few and i mean really few who likes them but not to the extent that i do i think. even now, i'm reading manga while doing this also. online of course. hehe but i'm not afraid to admit it. what i'd just like to know is are there anyone who's also actually interested in all these stuff? anime and manga? if so, then why do you like them? how did you get started on them?

| | | | | | | | 1. lecanis (7195) | 3 months ago | I love anime and manga, and I'll be 28 in a few months.*shrugs* Thankfully for me, my husband likes anime too, though he's not really much of a manga (or book in general) person. We also don't necessarily like the same types of anime all the time, and he's not as involved in fan stuff as I am (like fanart, fanfiction, doujinshi, etc). I get picked on sometimes by other women about liking anime, but where I live plenty of men are interested in it. It probably helps that I live close to a tech university, and for some reason interest in anime seems to be high among people who study technology. I think what really appeals to me about anime is the sheer scope of what can be done with it. There are so many art styles, so many genres... it's a lot more creative than American animation in that respect. Also, other than the art value, the good thing about animation in general is that it helps with suspension of disbelief. When you see an actor do something gravity-defying or physically impossible, the special effects behind it sometimes take away from the beauty of the act itself... whereas in animation it flows seemlessly with everything else the characters do, because they aren't limited by the human body. I started reading manga because I found out so many anime shows were based on it, and often the manga continues after the anime stops. Hana Yori Dango (released as Boys over Flowers in some places) was the first show to bring my attention to this: the anime ending is contrived and stupid because it abruptly got cancelled, but the manga continues quite a ways past that point. Fruits Basket is another big one for me when it comes to manga, becuase the original anime show doesn't even get around to introducing all the characters before it ends, but the manga not only has a huge cast of characters but a very emotionally charged (and somewhat dark) plotline hiding under a covering of fluff. Right now I'm both watching Naruto Shippuuden and reading the Naruto manga as it comes out, as well as occasionally watching/reading other series. Naruto is my current obsession, though, and I even right fanfiction for it. So you're not alone in having this interest.

sminut13 (726) | 3 months ago | thanks for replying so late. i've been really busy. i'm glad to know that there's someone out there who's likes them too. you're lucky that your hubby likes anime too. i too am not that involved in fan stuff as well though. i do see some but not much. i prefer the originals. i agree, in animation, all those physically impossible stuff do seem like they can be done. it's really real. yep, i too found out many animes are based on manga and noticed as well like you that manga tend to really complete the story usually. i was obsessed with naruto once but now, it's been some time since i last read it. thanks so much for replying good day
