Any idea how to punish phone spammers...?

If you haven't signed up on the "Do Not Call List" I would say to sign up for it..We don't get those kind of calls, not even the ones from Telemarketing which I can't stand...It does help to be on the list. Then if you get a phone scam call you can report them and they will get a big fine for calling your number....Here is the link to do sign up at...https://www.donotcall.gov/
I have a lady friend who is 82 years old and would get all kinds of scammer calls. I went and signed her up and now she isn't getting all the calls she was getting. She is so happy now...

I use some of the following tactics:

Annoying spammer: "good evening, may I speak to Mr. or Mrs xxxxx? (this is a big red flashing sign that says SPAMMER):
I answer: Oh I'm very sorry, they both died yesterday in a car accident. Are you friends? They have ask not to send flowers but to give a small amount to charity. We are in the process of contacting friends and familly, I am sorry if we did not contact you yet.

I also use: the sorri no speaka anglis (or whatever language they are spamming you with) and you can start shouting in gibberish just for the fun of it.

You answer, put the phone on the table and keep doing what you were doing. They will eventually hang up because the lack of response. You can aslo having fun pressing your phone buttons while they speak.

One I did not use yet but heard about: you use a very loud klaxon or whatever object you have that make
loud and annoying sound and you do that a few second, they usually hang up.

I get these calls almost every day and the way I deal with them now is to say*Could you just hold the line for a moment* then I put the receiver down on the desk and switch on some of my louder music, the phone is right next to one of the speakers so they phone spammer doesn't stay on the line very long - LOL

If it your phone house, you can take all the ideas from other mylotters here. If you feel bad about taking drastic action, you can use other tactic like:

If it was from the bank etc you didnot wanted to meet, just told them that you are new owner of the house and you already moved out from the house.

Sometimes I wonder from where does they get our phone number specially from bank or credit card company?

If you've ever seen the movie "Mrs. Doubtfire" when Robin Williams is calling Sally Field about the nanny position, do that. In one scene he repeats "I am job" in a foreign accent until she hangs up. In another, he yells "Leila! Get back in your cell. Don't make me turn the hose on you." And my favorite, "I don't work well with the boys. I used to be one" said in a thick German accent.

Or you could answer it, just put the phone down and walk away.

I heard a really funny one on the internet. The person who answers pretends to be the police that is investigating the murder of the owner. Then the police starts asking the caller all kinds of questions including name, address, phone number etc. He thenk proceeds to tell him that they will need to formally interview him and try to make an appointment at the headquarters. The poor guy on the other line freaks out and hangs up. I don't think he ever called again! I usually say I'm the sitter and that the owners are out of town. That way I'm polite but finish the call quickly. Good Luck!

And of course there is always the national do not call list. Takes a month to take effect, but is very affective against telemarketers.

Some of these responses I've heard before -I saw a TV ad a while back (I think it was a Tea company,pushing the relaxing aspect of the product) where the Actress was having her cuppa,and this phone spammer calls..She says "One Moment" and puts the receiver down beside the phone,where she has a cassette recorder set up,hits "Play",and Her voice says.."Your call is important to Me..Please hold..." then some cheesy muzak comes on and on.. Me,I just screen my calls with an answering machine-My Family and friends all have my cellphone number,and if it's not important enough that they'll leave a message,Great!
