The cough that will not end

I too am an anti-doctor person.

What the doctor knows in general I know it in particular.
The illness is mine and i have read on it what any doctor could read upon it.

So why the doctor? Your hubbyis right. Find the cause and cure it.

My mother has had the same type of cough for the last few weeks. She finally went to the doctor yesterday. She has a virus and got a prescription for some cough medicine. She always gets sick around this time every year.

Whenever i get a cold I get a cough like that that hangs on for weeks. It drives me nuts. I am so happy I did not get a cold this winter. This is probably the first year I've been cold free. i guess I should be knocking on wood when I say that.

Ihad a cold that turned in to bronchitis.the doctor gave me medication that did nothing for me. I had a cough for a month.when I finally go rid of it my son got sick and I got his cold that also turned to brochitis it's been over 2 weeks and I'm still coughing.

You need to watch out for bronchitis and pneumonia. This can be serious. If he has a productive cough,meaning that it brings up mucus when he coughs you should just let nature take it's course. If it's not productive then it might need some help. The idea is that a cough is for getting rid of junk in the lungs and throat. I would put him on Mucinex or if you like herbal remedies then go to the health food store and ask for an expectorant. This will loosen anything up so it's easier to get rid of.I would also advise you getting some heath store quality vitamin c. This is much different than the stuff you buy at the grocery or drug store. The absorption of the vitamin is very important and if it's absorbed correctly it will boost the immune system. I use about 2000 ml for about 3 to 4 days and then back off to about 500 ml for another week. This will kick any cold off very fast. I hope he's doing better soon!

Does he have clear, thin mucous along with it, or watery eyes? If he has either one of those symptoms accompanying his cough, it's just allergies. If it's just a cough, no fever, no watery/itchy eyes, no snot, then it's probably just due to the rapid weather changes. I get the same symptoms sometimes, and that's how my M.D. said to tell the difference. If your husband has a fever with his cough, I'd go ahead and hog-tie him, stuff him in the trunk, and take him to the doctor. Unless he cooperates and goes willingly, lol! If he has a fever, it could be strep throat, and YES, adults can get it. Strep throat can also turn into scarlet fever if it goes untreated.

I have had the very same cough. I have had it all of this year. I get rid of it and the next week it is right back with me. My head, neck and chest hurts from coughing so much. I told it was allergies. I guess I am allergic to pollen in the air. My cough is very dry and I just hack my head off. Sometimes it does loosen up but not for long. I take allergy pills and Robitussin cough syrup and some Tylenol for the headaches.

my hubby also has a bad cough. when he went to the doctor he was given shots and some medication only to find out it was just allergy to pollen and dust. Oh!!! my.. you can sure it by avoiding dust and pollen.. not to the extent of having shots????

Cough for two weeks alltogether seems quite severe, i hope u must consult a doctor for it might be bronchitis...Anyways, personally i tried this home remedy and it worked quite well for me...mix some pepper (about one full teaspoon is enough) with quite hot or warm milk and make him drink it, it will soothe his throat and reduce coughing considerbaly..there are more home remedies like this, orange juice taken 2 hours once would do good..if u want to know more...i can tell you..hope this information heps..

Could it be sinus or sinus drainage, I know that will make you cough.. If he doesn't want to go to the doctor, have him take some type of sinus medication and if that doesn't help, he will have to give up and go to the doctor.. I do know that there is a lot of allergies this time of the year..
