Investigation Of Officer Involved Shooting

I saw this story this morning, but did not read it until after my aunt mentioned tonight. Apparently, police heard shots being fired and a man who appeared to be fleeing the scene. He jumped to a car that moved away slowly. The cops claim that they heard gunshots and felt or heard something hit their patrol car. They also claim that the car was heading toward them.
Now my first question would be, why were these young men at a burger place at 1:00a.m. on Mother's Day? Maybe they had the munchies from being high? That is the only way that I could see them driving toward a police car. All I know is that if I heard shots being fired, I would run to the car also. My aunt says this took place on at the Rally's Hamburger resturant on Manchester and Crenshaw in Los Angeles. Not a cool place to be found shooting or running, or doing anything else for that matter at 1:00 in the morning. By the way, no gun was found in the car.
One youngster was killed and the other wounded.
