national anthem |
|
while we were in school back in those days i remember we were taught to respect the national flag and anytime the national anthem is being recited we are told to be on our feet and stand at attention,we grew up being very patriotic to the ccause of our dear motherland.I noticed these days however that the children are not like that and in fact some of them dont even know what the national anthem or the national pledge says,Were you taught to do same when uyou were growing up?

1. kerriannc (1512) | 4 months ago | Yes I grow up with the above but in those days it was a must to go to general devotion. Sometimes you hide especially when it is time for the principal to talk. But nowadays indiscipline is so high and persons who are going in the teacher's professional is only doing it because they do not have anything else to do. So they are not patriotic or willing to have the strictness that use to be in school and we must remember that what is done in the schools have a effect in the wider society. I still stop when I hear the pledge and anthem and gushy all over as if I am a child again. I am proud of my country.

3. olivemai (2558) | 4 months ago | Yes, we were taught to stand and recite the national anthem! I do know of some parents who taught their kids not to, as they were veterans of a war and not treated respectfully, therefore they know they have the right not to stand and show their respect!

BYOLA2871 (1434) | 4 months ago | well, its unfortunate that those parents have started sowing seeds of disloyalty to the naton and also that of disobedience without knowing it .It can result in civil disloyalty in future.

4. hiccup (4523) | 4 months ago | It seems to be everywhere you look. The children just do not seem to have that respect for the flag (and thats the nation we wer told). But top sport people have a lot tpo do with this I think, just look at them when the anthem of flag raising is a part of the even. walking around, talking, moving all over the place, even to spitting, Sad no matter what flag you stand under, there should be respect for it.

BYOLA2871 (1434) | 4 months ago | yes you are very correct about sports people dont be surprised that evn our parliamentarians are also guilty of this attitude,i was watching a meeting of politicians sometimes ago and the national anthem was being played some of them were busy exchanging pleasantries, what then do we expect the sportsmen or the kids to do?
