WTF is going on  | |  Yeah so I'm newly single after a near-engagement (details are...interesting, to say the least) and am "playing the field" again, and have found myself asking this very question over and over. Ok, I know the basic generalizations: that females tend to be drawn to the a-hole types (yeah, disagree all ya'd like, just sit at a social gathering in any part of the world to see proof of this) and fellas go for, well, we pretty much go for thilthy, scanky and stupid (or the holy trinity, if you're amongst fellow NO MA'AM members, that Bundy was amazing). My problem is that I really hoped, and felt deep down that these were all retarded stereotypes that meant nothing and there were still decent people out there..yada yada...bang and I'm done wit u. But I'm really starting to wonder if these Stereotypes are actually Universal Truths, disguised as a teenagers angry ploy against women. Any thoughts?

When my husband first laid eyes on me he thought I was the stereotypical girl that loved only hip hop and partied like crazy. And I thought he was the tattooed and pierced bad boy, yea that was exciting but I didnt know what I could possibly be getting into.
Anyways we started talking and found out we had more in common then we both thought. He found out we were into the same music, no i wasnt the hip hop girl he thought, and he wasnt as much of a hard @$$ as i thought.
Just try to put the stereotypes aside because really they dont mean a thing

Now all I seem to experience is everything that idiotic people (which, apparently includes me now) have been proclaiming for ages. I'm a little too cynical for my own good sometimes, and hopefully my current attitude is just an example of that and will pass soon enough. Thanks for the response. | |

It is kind of true that guys go for that because everytime a guy lays eyes on me, well nothing happens. I guess 'cause I'm short and I look like if I was thirteen and since I'm smart guys are turned off. I think I kind of scared guys but whatever. I just hope that not all guys are like that. And I am not like that. I'm not really into the a-holes to tell you the truth. I mean I might get a crush on a bad boy or something but he better not be a bad boy to me or he is out the door. Those are my thoughts.

Like I mentioned in a previous response, I know that a lot of what I said is a big generalization, but obviously it had to come from somewhere. Part of the problem is when you look for something, you generally find it, whether it's really there or not. Yeah, that totally doesn't make sense the way I wrote it, but hopefully you'll get the drift.
