Dry Skin From Gardening |
|
Okay I do a lot of gardening and seldom wear any type of work gloves or garden gloves. I wear gloves only when I will be using some type of gardening tool for an extended period of time to avoid blisters etc. My hands get so dried out from the dirt etc from all this gardening work. I use a few different types of lotions without much luck. I have had smooth skin since I started taking care of dad and not holding a "real" job so to say. Any suggestions on a good lotion to get rid of dry skin that i won't need to apply a few times daily as I do now? I use a couple of special brands and mostly Vasoline Intensive care lotion. Thanks for help and or info in advance all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

GardenGerty (14049) | 5 months ago | There is a small appliance that you can buy at Wal Mart. There are spas and chiropractors, and other places. It is warm, and has extra oils in it that make your hands soft and moistuized.

olivebranch56 (531) | 5 months ago | GP Bob the paraffin bath is so luxurious! I have had it done a couple of times at nail salons, on my hands and feet. The wax they use I think has more than just paraffin, anyway you melt it in a cooker looking apparatus. Then you dip your hand or foot into it once, take it out, then dip again, when it drys, (just a few seconds), peels off like plastic gloves. Your skin feels like velvet, but the results don't last long, it is just one of those feel good things we all need from time to time, Oh I am ready to do it again, just talking about it.

scarlet_woman (5137) | 5 months ago | oh yea it does!great for washing off oil paints. nothing else got that fully off my hands. i use the "nature's bounty" e cream.walmart and walgreens usually have it.it's a wee pricey, but worth every penny.

|
|
olivebranch56 (531) | 5 months ago | You can also buy a store brand vitamin E capsules, they are real cheap, use a safety pin to puncture the coating and squeeze into hands, rub in like lotion, works well on sun burn, stretch marls, and helps to heal scars. I had forgotten about that. thanks for the reminder scarlet.

3. DonnaLawson (1770) | 5 months ago | Try Cornhuskers, it is really good or Neutrogena has a great one that Paul Harvey recommends.. According to Paul Harvey, "The Nordic fishermen use it to keep their skin soft.. Gotta believe old Paul, never known him to lie..

4. ElicBxn (8162) | 5 months ago | These a brand that I think is Dove that has like Silk in the name, has a lavender container, it seems to work pretty well. I tried one of the water proof ones, hated the smell and the feeling. I find I hate the smells more than the way they feel so that was different. But this one is not a bad scent or feeling.

6. terri0824 (3029) | 5 months ago | The only tip I can come up with is use vasoline at night and put those stretch gloves on and you will wake up with baby soft hands. I'm sure you won't go for this tip though, many don't like this suggestion, but it does work very well.

7. hiccup (4712) | 5 months ago | For those hands or to that matter any other part of your baby, PLAIN SOAP wash and rinse off, Then apply BABY OIL, rub it in, THATS IT, WORKS on babies, for hundreds of years, then stupid us want to us all these fancy soaps with ACIDS in them,(and we all know acid burns, thats the idea you see burn the dirt away) PLAIN SOAP and BABY OIL, is the best for you. $$$$ won't get you a better product.

9. twallace (2586) | 5 months ago | I really have to suggest that you do get some gloves that will help the dryness some. For moisterizer Palmer Coco Butter lotion or some type of product that has Shea Butter in it. Depending on where you live if you Can Find Shea Butter in it's natural form then that would really be good. It's better that Coco Butter. It's really thick and you only have to use a little bit at a time. Try it and see.

10. callarse1 (2360) | 5 months ago | Yes, I have a few products that I absolutely LOVE Grandpa Bob (I use them for my feet because for some reason unknown to me they are so dry). Here are a few products that I use that actually work: A) Gardener's Hand Healer (1862 Baume Du Jardiner Pour Les Mains: Gardner's Hand Healer made in France sold at local Bath&Body Works). I'm not sure if they still sell it (I'm sure they do), but it's very good on your feet and I'm sure it would be good anywhere on the body. B) Gold Bond Body Lotion Triple Action Relief (It's in a Green bottle) C) JR Watkins Lemon Cream Shea Butter, you can purchase from jrwatkins.com I have also tried Vaseline Intensive Care & it's very good, too.
