It hard to find anything that is not hooked up to some sort of networking now days... One of the extremest actually came up with the idea that somewhere between matrix & Terminator is not at all impossible... Where computers are getting smarter & faster everyday, at one point, it will think for itself & being that it's hooked into mass network, it will control the everyday machines we take for granted... L.G. has produced internet controlled appliances, google - L.G. internet appliances, "OnStar" in vehicles are conected wirelessly where push of a button can unlock a car 2000 miles away, smart phones synchronizing with our everyday computers, gps system, bank accounts, wire transfers, etc, etc... There's very FEW things in our lives that is NOT hooked in one way or another... It won't take a lot for the machine to take over ALMOST every espect of our everyday lives, where one peed off programmer can hack in, or jack in, & bring down the system... or even scarrier, take control of it...
That being said, I think we can control it...
