A Fantastic Episode |
|
I've been watching Doctor Who on and off since I was a small child. I can now sit in front of the TV and watch it but as a kid I used to watch it from behind the sofa whilst mum tried to feed me dinner as I was so scared but I couldn't not watch it haha! I have just finished watching today's episode of Doctor Who which was absolutely fabulous! It was set decades ago and features a murder mystery with Agatha Christie as part of the story! What I found really amusing about this episode was the constant referrals to Christie books with the names thrown into regular conversation such as The Moving Finger, Endless Night, Crooked House, Taken at the Flood, Death Comes as the End and the funniest one was when the Doctor throws in Murder at the Vicar's Rage (instead of Murder at the Vicarage) - this was especially funny for me as the vicar was the murderer and he was in a rage haha! I loved the way they worked into the story Agatha Christie ending up at a hotel in Harrogate where she had actually reappeared in 1926 after being missing for 10 days, a great touch to this, one of my fave Doctor Who episodes ever! Are you a Doctor Who fan? How long have you been watching it? Can you think of which would be your most favourite episode ever?

2. wolfie34 (12141) | 7 months ago | Ah now the question is were you one of those who hid behind the sofa when the Daleks came on? Go on admit it, your amongst friends! To be honest I am not too fussed about the new Doctor Who, I much prefer Patrick Troughton, Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee, yes I am showing my age, I know the props are much better now and less Blue Peterish but I am not a fan of David Tenant or that one his predecessor, but I have to admit the cybermen are much better and as for the Dalek going up stairs well that has definitely got to be the scariest episode, considering they are the ultimate species they cannot tackle stairs, but now they've got over that! This is going way back now but I loved The Mind Robber it's an old black and white episode with Patrick Troughton as the doctor! I also liked the episode much recent with Sylvester McCoy, when there were Renegade daleks against the emperor daleks and they were fighting each other. Can't remember the episode had Ace in it. What about that great battle between the Cybermen and The Daleks the Cybermen always lose, tinheads LOL that was a recent episode with Rose Tyler. The Cybermen and The Daleks are my favourite of all Doctor's enemies as they were the most frightening! Definitely hide behind the sofa time, adult or child permissable!

anonymili (2613) | 7 months ago | Ah wolfie my kindered spirit! I can barely remember Doctor Who from my childhood and I didn't watch it for many years until recently with David Tennant and the chap just before him who just did one season. The cyberman scared the hell out of me in recent seasons - I know as a kid the Daleks used to frighten the life out of me (they are SO not acceptable as stair climbing machines!) but those stomping Cybermen sure did make me wanna go behind the sofa again hehe!

3. Citizen_Stuart (655) | 7 months ago | I was watching the one with Agatha Christie tonight, it was quite good, wasn't it? Although it would make a change if they did a straight historical story with no aliens or monsters. Like The Aztecs, for instance. Big Finish have done at least a couple of straight historical stories, and I thought they worked pretty well.

Citizen_Stuart (655) | 7 months ago | I've never really enjoyed watching films based on Agatha Christie books, but I'm now inclined to at least give one of her novels a try.

anonymili (2613) | 7 months ago | Ah what a pain. You should be able to catch up online if you've missed a show though as far as I'm aware BBC iplayer shows the previous week's shows for 7 days after they've been aired, not entirely sure though as I've never had to use the facility myself:)

Palmerhusky (586) | 7 months ago | sadly ive missed much of the last couple of seasons of the new doctor who...but i do like it. i would like to try and see if i can locate the older episodes so maybe i can watch it from beginning to end. but i love David Tennant at the doctor. the last episode i did actually get to watch is the one with the titanic guest staring Kile Meunough (and yes...i most definitely spelled her name wrong)

anonymili (2613) | 7 months ago | Thanks for your response. Nice to meet another fan and what a shame you've missed so much of it. It really is a fun series - David Tennant makes me laugh, he really has taken the role on board and made it his! His facial expressions at times are a right picture!

6. weemam (6709) | 7 months ago | I love it too pal, I loved watching it with my eldest who are now 45 and 42, I now watch it with Ross who is 28, Ross collects DR Who stuff, I loved the fun that was in it tonight, especially the antics for the antidote for the poison, we tape it because we laugh so much sometimes we miss bits, Ross keeps them all on DVD then he still buys them to get the extra bits, we turn over to channel 7 afterwards and watch Dr Who confidential, we are all fans:):) xx

anonymili (2613) | 7 months ago | Shame you missed it Ellie, I loved this episode. I think the one recently where he has a daughter was quite sweet too, but very sad at the end! I guess it gave David Tennant more emotions to work with! x
