What makes you send a friends request - and do you accept all of them?

when I first started will I accept everyone that want to be on my friend list, but later on have I found out that they are doing it for money and they are making me feel annoyed by making tons of discussion to earn money on mylot and that's all I see when I click "discusssions my friends started". I do want to see some that's quality poster from my friendlist then making tons of discussion and think they will earn much from it.

I only add people that I have something to send to them or maybe have things to ask them about. Or else I rarely add mylotter now a days and you can see that my friendlist is not long.

To send a friends' request, click on somebody's profile, then click the tab below his picture saying Add as friend.

Now to the main answer. I send friends' requests to people whose answers to certain discussions arouse my interest. They might have the same viewpoints as I do. They might have the exact opposite views.They might be people whose answers I admire, and that's how I choose my friends here.

I accept all the request's I receive with the exception of new users with (0) beside their name (but I wait to see if that number increases before denying them).
I too have many requests from people who I have only seen a glimpse of and have not always been in my discussions. I think they are enthralled by something I say or visit my profile and want more information.
If after I accept them they send links to sites without introducing themselves or at the least a simple 'Hi' then they will be short-lived on my list. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt and try to comment on their discussions - but that is not always possible especially during the week when I work away from the computer

I send very very few friends requests, mostly because I don't think I'm good with the rejection and not being accepted and I'm more or less really shy, but I have probably in my year here requested about 15 people here to be my friends,

Why do I request a person as a friend, I feel I have something I can relate to them, I like how they write, I like what they say, and no I do NOT always agree with them, but I think that there are people on here that are very very eloquent in their writing and I enjoy reading what they have to say.

No I do not add everyone, and I used to do that, but since December when things started getting really bad around here and a good friend got banned.

So I am more cautious who I add, adn I really wait to see if a person is going to be active, no they don't have to respond to all of my posts, however, I will no longer add someone who is not active, or has low post count and lots of friends.

I can say that this purely depends person-to-person. For Eg: I would'nt accept anyone untill I know them or have discussed something with me or is of my interest. However, I have found that unlike other community sites, it does harm you to add friends in MYLOT.

I have to admit when I first started on mylot, I was stricter in accepting friendship requests. I would visit their profile first, read some of their responses before I press the accept button. Now, anybody who sends me a friendship request I just automatically accept.

As for me extending a friendship request, I usually based it on people who have answered a discussion of mine. Sometimes if I answered someone else's and they would write back a comment, I would also invite them as a friend. Sometimes, when I'm browsing around and somebody's response caught my eye, I also invite that person. So I guess in the end, there is really no rhyme and reason on how I picked my friends. But it sure is great that when I go to "discussions my friends started" section, I have plenty of options to choose from.

I haven't send any friend request until now. Yes, be a friend should be more concer about your discussion, but not absolutely. Are you sure you are really familiar with those friends online? And do you be more concered about the discussion they started?

When they say something that I like or agree with it. Or if I can relate to something that they are experiencing. Or they made a comment to a question that I wrote that was nice. Or it maybe, that I have a good vibe about this person..

As you can see, I too am pretty new around here. I have made few requests for friends that have been accepted about 90 or 95%. And I have written a note to personally thank each one who has accepted me, but I am somewhat dismayed that out of a dozen friends only about 4 or 5 have responded to my note. And only 2 or 3 am I in contact with in a PM about once every 10 days or so. However, that said, we are in touch more often by responding to each others or other myLotter's discussions.

One thing I am curious about and wonder if my PC is not set right with myLot, or I am not doing something right, but when you guys talk about viewing someones profile, just where are you looking and clicking? I have asked this about 3 times now in 2 other discussions and STILL no one will help to answer me?

So Emiese, as one new poster to another, where are you clicking to view a myLotter's profile? The only place I have found that seems like it is the way to do it, is to click on your nickname. But if I click on any nickname, I always get the same message, that says something about page not being found. What do you see if you click on my nickname?
