Do you think you have a disease?

I was a very slim girl growing up and a slim woman. I had two kids and walked out to the hospital,babe in arms a size 6. When my son was about 4 I started gaining weight and nothing seemed to help it. I went to my doctor who said it might be something in the female side so I went to my OBGYN and he said that it was probably the pill and so I got my tubes tied. That didn't help and then he said "Well you are getting older"!I was 30 at the time....so it was about 15 yrs later I came across an article about polycystic ovarian disease. It had all my symptoms so I took it to the doctor and yes this is what I have. But it is really a disease pertaining to insulin so now I am overweight and no real help for it.If I would have caught it early I would be in much better shape right now.

Sometimes the doctor misdiagnoses as had happened to my boy. The doctor diagnosed him to have a contagious disease typhoid fever, and immediately ordered blood tests and anti-biotics. On consulting with another specialist, her diagnosis was completely debunked but too late for my son who had to undergo the tests and the treatment. I was even aware of her surprise (the original doctor) at the results as though she realized she made a mistake.

I want to thank you for the best response! I am like you in that there are a lot of people that are left with no help when they have symptoms of diseases that they are sure are there. I thank you for bringing attention to this and for the very interesting discussion!
