Life on this earth.  | |  Life on this earth is a preparation for another life that comes after death. It is how we spend our life here that would determine what life will be ahead of us beyond this world. There are people who say: "Drink and be merry for tomorrow, we shall die". This is not the life that God wants us to lead. The Lord would want to see us live a life that would please Him and would glory His holy name. We are not living here for ourselves alone. We are living here on earth to serve God's purpose... that is to live a life in accordance with his will so that we will qualify to live with him eternally in heaven. Yes, there are those who are enjoying their lives to the fullest unmindful of whether they please the Lord or not. They party, they drink, they engage in a lot of vices, they kill, they go to church without knowing the Lord, they know religion but not the Lord, they work to the hilt to get rich, they go to a lot places, they do everything that pleases them but God is deleted from their lives. After their fleeting life... death comes to toll and the dark hell awaits them all.. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Jesus said that there are only two choices - eternal punishment or eternal life. Both of them are eternal. We either go to suffer forever or we live forever in peace and joy with God. Eternal life does not refer to how long we live but to where we will live and the kind of life we will have after our physical death. Those who will have eternal life will get to know God the Father and God the Son - Jesus Christ. (Ref. "And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent."- John 17:3 )
Those who honestly and sincerely believe that Jesus died for their sins, and believe that Jesus is God and confess their sins and repented them and believe will have their sins forgiven and receive eternal life.(Ref. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Rom. 6:23 )
Jesus died for our sins so that He could pay the price of our sins, and the benefit of believing in your heart this truth and accepting Jesus Christ as your only Savior is eternal life. Eternal life begins the moment an individual starts believing and trusting Jesus.
Hence the act itself of repentance and acceptance is a preparation. And in addition, the result of acceptance of Jesus is a complete turn about a new life in Jesus here on earth which is the continuation of the preparation till He calls you back home heaven to be with the Mansion He prepared for you.

in our life we are living now, we believe that Jesus is God and
everything that you have just mentioned.
Heaven is really here on earth and is happening even if we are
still alive.
In that case, I don't think there is any need of heaven after death.

I an English and so brought up in the Church of England but having learned history at school and finding that this church was only started because Henry VIII wanted a divorce which the Pope would not allow I got very confused. I feel I should be a Catholic but am not ready to split from my friends and commit to this way of life.
I do the best that I can to lead a good life, help others and be a Christian in all that I do. I hope this will suffice.

Remember what matters most is to be a Christian. Religion will not save us but it's Jesus who would. So the most important thing is for one to assure that there really is a personal relationship between him and God. That all the good things we are doing are products of our desire to glorify God in our lives.
