Do your friends and family in real life know that you are making money online? |
As many of you know I have just started this online business thing. My friends and family is not really the "sitting in front of the computer" type. If I would tell them that I click on ads and get paid for it they would probably just laugh at me, and think I am stupid to fall for such an obvious fraud. So until I get any payments or get a bit further I keep it to myself! I am leading two very different lives IRL as oppose to online! What is your experience with this online business? Have you told your friends and family, do they support you? Did you tell people straight away when you started, have people been supportive or have you met negative opinions? Are your friends and family involved, have you even gotten them as referrals?

2. ayumitakashi (2174) | 5 months ago | Oh my gosh I'm leading a double life as well! LOL. I feel a thrill when I say that. I waited a while before I told my mom but she doesn't mind. And plus when I do get paid I always have some money in my paypal account in case she needs to buy some food I'll buy if for her. So it's a blessing that I discovered this. My mother doesn't really know too much about computers. The only thing that she does on the computer is that she plays a game on gamesville.com but other than that no. I'm the only one in my family that does this.

ayumitakashi (2174) | 5 months ago | Oh I just read the person underneath me and I realize that I haven't really told my mother about mylot yet. I should probably tell her though.

Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | I have mentioned myLot for a few people, because that seems a bit more "legit" that you write stuff and get paid for it. But then people assumed that it is really well paid, asking how much one earn etc, and then when you tell them how much it is they just shrug and think it will never be worth the time. Can't imagine telling them about the ptc:s, where you earn like 2 cents per minute.. that is not much for an hour work!
| |
ayumitakashi (2174) | 5 months ago | It's not much yeah but those pennies do add up. And most of us are here surfing the web anyways so why not earn money. I'm here for my schoolwork and stuff and while I do school work I could do my ptc's. It's not really hurting anyone, in fact it's helping me pay for my textbooks and stuff. But yeah most people wouldn't think it's worth it.

Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | I know what you mean, I think the same way. This is something that I do anyway, so it is just a bonus that I have an extra window open with these ads.

3. 2kidsandapup (714) | 5 months ago | I just told my parent's today about mylot, they don't do the Internet thing either, but my boyfriend knew from day one. yes you really do get paid from this I've gotten paid already a few times. I also do online surveys but only from one forum. I did receive a check, it wasn't very much, and of course before i even attempted to cash it i did my research. I called the bank that the check came from and they directed me to another number, which then checked it out and it's legit.

Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | That is always good to check things out like you did! I also think it might be easier to mention it to people when you have actually gotten paid. Then there is proof that one is not just a gullible, naive idiot that believe in this.

2kidsandapup (714) | 5 months ago | actually I was going to make a discussion about it but forgot, now you reminded me:) it's surveyspot.com if you're interested.

Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | Thanks, but I doubt I can use that, since most of the survey sites only work for US, Canadian and UK residents, and I am neither.

Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | I know what you mean. If you tell someone it is more as a joke first, to see their reaction. If they seem interested you might give them a few more details, but otherwise you just laugh and leaves! I suspect you have gotten enough for a fair few ice-creams so far!

5. vicneedscoffee (875) | 5 months ago | I did the same thing when I started, didn't tell anyone. Then after I got a few payments I told my family and a few friends know, but they aren't into it. My family is really cool about it. Who can't use a few extra bucks every month?
| |
| |
Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | Yeah, I think that is the key.. being able to prove that you got some real money! Then it might be easier!

Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | It would be kind of cool wouldn't it, to make enough money to be able to buy them something really nice or treat them to something and then tell them. Then they shouldn't have any problems with it, should they?!

metschica25 (3446) | 5 months ago | no!! That would be cool . The way I look at it is it all adds up in the end . i know i have my limit at $50.00 so i have to push myself. I think it is fun.

7. LauraT2008 (1204) | 5 months ago | I have told one friend I use a paid search engine and I submit some articles to a writing site. i could never tell them that I click on ads they would think i was crazy and say I have no need of the money no doubt!! I also told my mum I was using swatcash but didnt tell her I done offers just said it was like a game where i could win prizes including money and other things!! Although when I start making alot of money I will say something like I have an online business and then perhaps tell them, they know about mylot as I did invite some friends, but I said it was more like a social network! My parents arent very uptodate with computer affairs so they probably would not believe me if I said I was makign tens of dollars doing this that and the other lol
| |
| |
Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | I know exactly what you mean. Somehow it sounds a bit more legit to say you get money for putting articles in a writing site. Compared to that clicking ads seems a bit silly!

8. oneidmnster (535) | 5 months ago | I have no problem telling my friends and family I make extra money on the internet.I've cashed plenty of checks and gotten lots of GC's from my programs. Some say they would like to do it too,but they don't have the time.Anyone who says anything derogatory,I just laugh at them.I'm the one cashing the checks.

Emiese (455) | 5 months ago | That is true, always good to be the one with the money to proove it. But was it the same before you started to get payouts? It could be hard convincing other people until you are certain of it yourself!
| |
oneidmnster (535) | 5 months ago | I didn't tell anyone else until after I started earning money. It doesn't really do any good unless you have proof.

9. ersmommy1 (6503) | 5 months ago | Yes they do. I tell them. And why not. A few have even followed me, and are doing it too. I don't let the people with negative reactions bother me. When I get checks or credit on pay pal that is proof enough. I send them links. If they want to sign up fine. If not no pressure.
