hey!! I'm coughing now!! can you hear me? any home remedies for cough and colds?

I know two things. Tea with loads of honey and lemon helps a cough. Also if you have a runny nose and it starts dripping down your throat. Eat some un-buttered toast! It really helps. Sorry about your coughs/cold.

Hot brandy with a twist of lemon! I'm not into acohol but this works? I don't know why but it works for me. although I don't get sick much! tdemex

Oh dear!^_^; I'm just getting over the flu and I can understand your pain. My coughs hurt so much I tried to hold my breath, which really wasn't the best solution. I liked putting a cold, damp cloth on my forehead to help with the headache. I also drank two gallons of water a day (I used a pitcher to measure this, hehe). Honestly, I hope you ride it out okay. If you have a heating pad, perhaps use it to warm your feet. Best of luck to you!

a good strong cup of hot tea with lemon and honey is a good cough suppressant. ALso, I will cut up 3 lemons into small pieces, put them in a glass jar, pour enough honey on the lemon to cover completely. Refrigerate for a few hours to a few days. Take two tablespoons of the lemon and honey and put into a cup, pour boiling water over the mixture, and drink. The mixture will last for at least two months in the refrigerator. This a great one, and also works very well for a sore throat. Also, lemon rinds lose their bitterness in the honey, so you can actually eat the rind after it has soaked in the honey for a day.

Great question! We could all using being put a little more at ease during our illnesses! Drinking loads of tea and honey is a pretty good idea. However, I have found that I can't drink that much without feeling a bit sketchy! You should especially watch out for caffeinated teas, as you shouldn't be drinking loads of this while sick and it will also make you feel funny! My favorite is the magic of water. I drink as much water as physically possible, roughly a liter an hour, all day. It makes you have to use the toilette a lot, but this is good as you are flushing your system while loosening mucous through good hydration.

Speaking of mucous it is very important, if you are developing a chest cold or stuffy nose, not to consume dairy products. I didn't know this for most of my life, and would treat myself to my "I'm sick and deserve ice-cream" bowl of goodness. Really, anything dairy (milk, yogurt, ice cream, cheese etc.) contributes to the production of mucous. This will make you feel more congested and less comfortable.

Finally if you do get some brandy, the mentioned hot water, lemon, brandy combination really does seem to work, it is great to help you feel comfortable and help you sleep at night! (only one though, as your body doesn't need to be processing much alcohol!) Good luck, I hope you feel better!:P

TRUST MEon this one I've shared this with many here at myLot & they all swear by it!!! Get some 'Vicks' vapo rub, before you go to bed, 'slather' the bottoms of your feet with this, put on white socks & go directly to bed. You'll not cough allnight long, you'll also get the rest you need, & this will cut your cold in half. Do this every night & the next thing you'll notice is You are COLD FREE!!! Lori

The last time I had a cough my husband made me a hot drink of burbon and honey, that fixed my cold right up. I had no problems with a cough after that. The remedy worked, and it tasted absolutely delicious.

Hi, you can try boiled the coke and mixed some ginger in it. It's quite good and fast to heal coughing especially. Hope you get better soon.
