Dont you know that attitude affects how we handle stress and it also affects the way stress handles us. Whe ou are an optimist you are able to cope more effectively with stress. Wen optimist people do become ill, they tend to recover more quickly. And people with pessimist, they are likely to deny the problem, distance themselves from the stressful event, focus on stressful feelings, or allow the stressor to interser with achieving a goal.

When you are that person who belongs to people with a more pessimistic attitude, you tend to have POORER health compared to people with optimistic attitudes.

Well, as I evaluate myself in terms of the qualities and characteristics you have mentioned, I think that I am the optimistic type of person. It's true that being optimistic is a positive sign and that we can cope with problems or trials better than the pessimist who always look at the dark side of things. Therefore, it's better to be an optimistic person than a pessimist. There's always a light after going through a dark tunnel. But we need to go through it to see the light. Be optimistic!happy

I have a passimistic attitude. Im kinda critical at some points cause I want to be sure about something and not to end up in missery... I really think first it thouroughly and see all the possible options...

I am neither. I am a pragmatic person. I view things usually with a degree of logic rather than emotion. Both optimistic and pessimistic views tend to require an emotional response.

Good that your neutral and your practical in dealing things. Your not emotionally driven in terms of decision making to things that needs decision. At least in practicality, for example you are to choose a person your going to married and it takes decision whether to select the one you really love but that person or the one you don't love but can make you happy. Of course to me i would chose the one that can make my family happy rather than the one that i loved but could not make me happy. hehehe anyway just making sample.

I'm usually optimistic. I believe that there is some bit of good that can come out of a bad situation. Unfortunately, my hubby is the opposite, and it often causes problems between us. He doesn't understand why I don't get more upset than I do, and I get frustrated because to him every little thing is a major problem! It's amazing we've lasted so long (married 20 years this month)!

Wow, congratulation's that you reached your being together as husband and wife to 20 years. Optimism and pessimism really can affect how well you live and even how long you live. With the relationship you had with you husband, good that you have opposite attitude. You looks situations(maybe problems, trials and etc..) as "minor" but your husband looks it as "major". With this take always a refresher course on your positive thinking. Always put into actions all your positive thinking. Don't be poisoned by his negative emotion but rather poisoned him with your positive attitude. By this you reduced his stress, improve his sense of we'll being and even improve his health. When something bad occurs, don't blame yourself or any of you but rather help each one. You are the positive thinker and i think you are in the potential position to restore your relation happiness.

Needless to say, i am a pessimist and have been for almost half of my life. Why? because everything that i think of becomes the opposite in reality. So to make things right, i think of negative thoughts to make positive outcomes in reality. Do you get what I'm saying? that's just me(^^,)

Optimism can be learned as like other internpersonal skills. You may begin by writing your setbacks ans practicing aguing with your less optimistic thoughts until a more realistic vision of what has happend and waht is likely to haapen in the future wmerges.

optimistic and as well as pessimistic.I'm optimistic yeah,coz I can definitely handle and cope up with stress and all those negative prana that I encounter but there are times that I tend to be pessimistic coz you know if I'm already fed up,I don't care anymore...deny it,don't think about it...etc.

We sometimes gone into over feed with trials that sometimes turned us to be pessimistic. We very fast react negatively. I agree with you because i also like that i dont care anymore when things looks so imposible to settle. But, I thank the Lord, that i can lay all kinds of burdens within me. That hope always make me smiles too..

I am a pessimist who wants to an optimist, meaning im in the process of correcting the not so my good outlook about life. I know coz as a person i can be a center peoples lives and i can have an impact to other people's lives as well. When you are in the center theres this phenomenon called the ripple effect and honestly i dont want to have this negative ripple effect on other people, as much as I would want it, i wanted it to be a positive effect like what Barnabas showed us in the way he lived his life.

There are many negative things about life than can make the positive in us, so lets just carry them out handle the negatives with care and surely theres the positive result that will somehow be a postive for the people around us and specially the people we care about.

i'm a pessimist and i agree with you about the health thing...honestly, i get stressed a lot because my tendency is to think negatively about a situation first before seeing good in it.

I also overstressed over thinking negatively over a situation especially problems that comes my way. I thought everything hard to overcome even those minor problems tends to become major because of my pessimism. That's why I am discovering ways how to overcome this weaknesses of mine And with the help from Above, i know i will be lead into optimism.
