The Da Vinci Code....Did it Shake your FAITH?

We have the same views about it. It is just too sad to know that there are people who seemingly take everything the way it is... taking the fiction as facts. There are some who are startled by the claims of the novel, suspicious because they’ve never heard them before, but at the same time accepting of the possibility. These folks usually lack any background in history and suspect that there’s no way to know the truth anyway. There are those who really don’t care about the exact content of The Da Vinci Code, but are glad that it subverts Christianity, and so “believe” in the project in general, and heartily approve of it.

But I am a believer of the Diving Code. That God has sent his beloved Son to give us redemption.

Hi! Well, yeah it did made me think, and for a second there I would have actually believed it but at the end of the day or at the end of the book I always think and know that its just a book. No matter how much of a truth it is its still in the third hand information and with the same thing as tv, one should never believe everything that is seen and heard in there no matter how believable it can be. Thats why I love Dan Brown. He is really a master in his craft. He is the best storyteller that he can mix the actual truth with his own imagination and create masterpiece that can and will shake the world. In this case it shook the very foundation of our existence. I dont mind and even care that he claims what he says in the book is true. Sure there might be the documents and the artworks but the facts stop there. It stops in the description of the physical material. His imagination begins where the physical manifests. I mean a chair is just a chair unless you give it a history and a story or something that you're imagination cooked up.

Thats what I think with the Da Vinci Code. There might be some truth in it but its not the whole truth. Eventhough there was a disclaimer or statement or something, I always look at all books as fiction even if they are memiors/autobiographies because no one else in the current living world can really confirm the writers' claims, unless he sees it for himself. So unless I see for myself that Jesus and Magdalene were lovers right before my very eyes, its all fiction.

A fiction that is a must-read but should come with a warning saying 'not for the fainthearted or shaky faith'.

it didnt shale my faith at all. me and my wife have a book and a dvd copy of the movie. we enjoyed reading this and watching it also. our faith remained the same. i think faith will only shake if your faith is not strong. if we have strong faith we can hold on to it and whatever story about our religion comes up the faith will always be there.

I dont believe in wat the Da vinci code says, as it was just a book about a conspiracy that has been around for a while. Ive seen many documentaries about this idea of Mary of Magdala, and have even watched a documentary where they supposedly found Jesus families tomb, but becos of laws had to seal it back up..WTF, u would have thought dat if they found the tomb, it would have been massive news. (Supposedly, mary of magdala was buried in the same tomb, along wit jesus' siblings).

The answer is NO. Being a person that was not that great of a believer in the first place, I just considered the book just some product of a guy with a very vivid imagination.

I watched the movie The Da Vinci Code and saw so many things that went through my mind about Jesus and the painting of The Last Supper and many more. After the movie, I was thinking if those things were true or just stories. But in the end, i thought who cares? Having faith in Jesus for me doesn't really matter what happened before. The important thing is Jesus sacrificed Himself for us to save us from eternal sin and He's still here beside us whenever we need his help.

Yes, it shook me very much. Dan brown is a very insightful author. He's one of my favorites. I've read three of his books and he can really provide some perspectives on different subjects.

nope I'm Jesuit trained and my religion teachers were even the first to admit to the Catholic church's imperfections.

As for Dan Brown he did a lot of research but any true Catholic true to her religion can readily see the flaws of his premises.

And I don't think something as simple as -- That's got to be it. It's the only explanation I can think of is good enough .

From the responses here the book has prodded many into thinking alright.

Most of them say, 'It's a book' and should be treated as a 'book'.

As the originator of the discussion you may ask them how they treat the other 'Book'?

The Bible ... the Koran ... and all other basic books of various religions.

Rarely we find Indian girls on this level of discussion.
