Will the Rivalry be Renewed?  | |  During the 1980s, the rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics are phenomenon. They hit the world by storm. With Magic Johnson leading the way for the Lakers during that time together with two hall of famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy and the Celtics is led by the 3-time 3 point shootout champion Larry Bird with two towers in the name of Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, this two teams became one of the top teams on the 80s with the Lakers winning 5 championships and the Celtics winning 3 titles. Only the Sixers (1983) and the Pistons (1989) are the other teams beside Lakers and the Celtics that won chapinoship in the 80s.
Now the Lakers and the Celtics are in their respective Conference Finals, there is a big chance that this two rival teams will meet again in the NBA finals. But Johnson, Abdul-Jabbar and Worthy are not in the Lakers roster anymore cause they are replace by the new generation of superstars with the NBA MVP Kobe Bryant leading the way together with Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom. And the same situation as the Celtics. Bird, Mchale and Parish is nowhere to be seen in the hardcourt for the Celtics and there are also replace by the new generation superstars led by the NBA Best Defensive Player of the Year Kevin Garnett with veteran players in the name of Paul Pierce and ray Allen.
Will the Celtics and the Lakers meet again in NBA Finals? Will the rivalry be renewed once again?

| | | | | | 1.  GodOfTheSurf (412) | 7 months ago |  In many ways, I would love to say yes and watch the story unfold. But as of today, I cannot put my faith in the Boston Celtics just yet. I do believe that the Los Angeles Lakers will hold the end of their bargain. That is easy for me to say though considering they defeated San Antonio tonight in Game 5 to take a 3-1 series lead heading back to Los Angeles. With Boston, they have not proved to me that they are going to get past the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons have proved they can win on the road, defeating each opponent they have faced on the road at least once. Boston did win against Detroit at the Palace, I know this. However, the Pistons seem to have more credibility at this moment to pull out the series. Considering that the Pistons are the only team to win in the Garden this post-season, I just don't know if Boston will be able to go to another Game 6 or 7. They have already played two Game 7's and the next few games will be a true test of their attrition.
