Do you have a favorite bean recipe? |

I only know one way to make beans. Ham, beans in a crockpot for 8-10 hours. I substituted turkey last time I made it. Very good. I am looking for more though.

1. twilight021 (1584) | 3 months ago | Seeing as I am from Boston, I have to share the quintessential bean recipe...Boston Baked Beans! My mom used to make these in a bean pot in the oven, but you can use a crock pot as the recipe says. 1 lb. Navy beans 1 lg. onion 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. molasses 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1/4 lb. bacon Place beans in large kettle. Cover with water, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon baking soda. Bring to boil. Cook covered for 45 minutes or until beans are just tender. Drain, reserving liquid. Combine salt, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Place 1/3 of beans in Crock Pot with small amount of reserved liquid. Cover with 1/3 of molasses mixture. Place 3 slices of bacon on top. Place onion on top of this layer. Repeat layers; add part of reserved liquid with each layer. Cover beans with liquid. Cook on low and for 9 to 11 hours or until beans are tender. They are great to bring with you to a cook-out. Enjoy!

4. bdugas (1013) | 3 months ago | Ok I am from Louisiana, and there nothing is made plain, we doctor up everything, try taking your beans, (red beans is the best) and when you are cooking then add, parsley, onion chopped, bell pepper chopped, chopped garlic, (as much as you want for the flavor you like) You said you put Ham in the beans, try adding some smoked sausage to it also, it gives the beans a good flavor. Mash up soem of the beans when near done to make like a creamy substance, so they are not runny. Add salt pepper. White beans can be done the same way. The ham and smoked sausage gives it a real good taste.
