cocaine. not the press secretary but bush. scott mcclellan the former white house press secretary has just come out with his tell all. says among other things that he on his own time researched the bush cocaine rumors of the 80's. also said that the president and cheney were going to take down iraq all along or something to that affect. you think its just sour grapes, just lies so mcclellan can make a fast buck?

1. jerzgirl (1386) | 5 months ago | Not in the least, although I think it was bad form for him to say he thinks it's "probable" that Bush continued to use cocaine. But, the fact that the White House staff is calling him disloyal and violating their trust in him says to me that he's telling more truth than lie. Their argument that he didn't say anything while he was working is also crap - how many people continued to be employed who said ANYTHING at all in disagreement with Bush? Colin Powell? Nope - out! Bush would have NO questioning of his actions. This guy probably liked working there even as he saw things he didn't like. He couldn't say anything - wasn't free to say anything until he left. I find it laughable that Karl Rove says he sounds like a "left-wing blogger"!! First of all, has he read any of the right-wing blogs?? How many things have they said that were so off the mark of truth it was more fairytale than anything? Secondly, his still thinking that labeling ANYTHING left-wing is an automatic death sentence - hello? We've finally woken up around this nation - we don't buy into it anymore (some of us never did). Thirdly, since when is anything printed online considered the Holy Grail (except to a few wingnuts of all types)? So much untruth travels the 'net, yet a lot of truth can be had out there as well. We just need to understand that and sift through the chaff. The fact that McClellan is willing to put his money where his mouth is (or in this case, his reputation) also tells me that there's more than a little truth in his book. As for Bush and Cheney wanting to go to Iraq BEFORE 9/11 - that little tidbit has been known for years. Bush wanted to use "political capital" to attack Iraq long before he was even President. see - http://www.gnn.tv/articles/article.php?id=761 The Patriot Act was also written before 9/11. We're going to learn a lot of things after he's gone - if he doesn't burn all his documents in an "accidental" fire somewhere.

jerzgirl (1386) | 5 months ago | Yep - I think I'll have to pick this one up, too. If you get a chance, read a book written by Mary Mapes, "Truth and Duty: The Press, the President and the Privilege of Power". An amazing and frightening insight to the effects of media investigations of the Bush Administration after 9/11.

2. grasshopper5257 (291) | 5 months ago | Yep! And if you want to get right down to it, Bill never inhaled! He didn't consider oral as S E X either! And apparently Hillary doesn't either cause she is still with him. I wonder if she didn't inhale either? So, where are you going with this discussion? The Presidents time is about over, now it is time to sort out the best of the evils and figure out which candidate will do the least amount of harm to our nation. I say, Bush is pretty old news if you ask me!

jerzgirl (1386) | 5 months ago | Where he's going is where they should have gone BEFORE 2004. Tell the truth about Bush and impeach him and his lot. Some serious jail time can't compensate for 4000 unnecessary deaths.

grasshopper5257 (291) | 5 months ago | I suppose you think that Bush brought down the twin towers too? It seems to me that Bill has the Serbian war in his past too. But that war was not nearly as publicized by our liberal media. I am not happy with Bush but I don't believe that Bill and Hillary are crystal clean either. And like I said before, now the American voting public has to figure out which of the evils will do the least amount of harm to the US. And if you are wanting to throw Bush in Jail for the war and the nearly 4000 deaths, you are going to have to blame nearly all of the house and senate (Dems and Reps) that voted to go into Iraq. But, everyone forgets about all that, it is easier to blame just one man for everything!

3. Destiny007 (3420) | 5 months ago | I think he is just out to make a buck... Bush's time is nearly done, and McClellan knows that he won't have much of a future with anyone else in DC, so he comes out with this expose that even has the left wing media scratching their heads, because he also claims that they went easy on Bush. He throws a book together in hopes of making a few bucks, while telling the left what they want to hear and he rides off into the sunset. As far as Iraq... that goes back into the Clinton presidency as well, as to the claims of WMD's, so anyone who would use that as a basis of truth would be in error. He wrote a book based on half-truths, lies and personal perceptions, and talked about secret meetings and what was discussed in those meetings although he was not at those meetings. If he was not at the meetings then how does he know what was discussed? The only ones who would believe this crap are the ones who already don't like Bush.

4. anniepa (5841) | 5 months ago | I don't see any reason to doubt anything he says, in fact much of it everyone already knew but for the first time it's been validated by an "insider". The only thing I regret is that he didn't speak out years ago when it could have done some good. I heard what he said about Bush's alleged cocaine use - that Bush told him they did so much partying back then he doesn't remember if he did cocaine or not and Scott says he finds it hard to believe someone would forget something like that and I tend to agree with that. Sorry, but that's more outlandish than claiming to have not inhaled! Annie

5. hholt01 (774) | 5 months ago | who really cares anymore. maybe I am just too cynical anymore. obama did cocaine, mccain cheated on the wife that stood by him all through vietnam. the world is full of compromised leaders. even our founding fathers were a motely crew. there are too many important issues to be worrying about buying some crap book. just my two cents.

jerzgirl (1386) | 5 months ago | Well, someone needs to care. The last country whose citizens got this complacent about who the enemy really was ended up being split into two parts with an invisible "Iron Curtain" down the middle.

6. john_galt44 (150) | 5 months ago | This guy is typical of the political condition of our country. He has no respect, no reputation, and therfore, no credibility. He is looking to fuel the left-wing propaganda machine and make a boat-load of money selling books to the pseudo-intellectual fools who hate Bush.He has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Bush is such an easy target because a lot of this stuff is probably true. Regardless, once the media rings the bell, it can't be unrung!Scotty, you will earn every penny you make from this book, I hope it is worth it!

7. Smith2028 (675) | 5 months ago | I think that McClellan knows what he is doing. Look at the facts: McClellan a disgruntled exstaffer. President Bush, within a few months of exiting office. Iraq: The greatest issue of the Bush Presidency. Left wing: Willing to buy anything that takes down the President. McClellan knows exactly what he is doing. Whether or not President Bush used cocaine is irrelevant, as long as he still isn't. Who hasn't done something they are ashamed of? You forget that McClellan's job in the White House was getting out whatever message the administration wanted him to. What makes you think that this book is anything but a publicity stunt. McClellan has no future in the DC area, and has to make one last grasp at his fifteen minutes in the spotlight. Do I believe McClellans book? No. Do I not believe McClellans accusations? No. I am not one to judge until all facts are in.
